Can a creditor reported an account closed two years prior to bankruptcy as "Included in Bankruptcy?"

Yes, bankruptcy can be reported for seven to ten years from the date the bankruptcy has been discharged. It will show in your report as $0 balance and "included in bankruptcy" and you cannot get it removed before this period of seven to ten years.

Nina, this mark does stay on your credit for a long time and can look bad but also it can do some good for you too. Just say another collector tries to collect this bill, showing included on bankruptsy on your report will keep them from legally collecting it. It has been known for junk debt collectors to try this tactic. I too had filed for bankruptsy a long time ago and had run into this problem.

The Lane Bryant balance was 0 because i had paid off and closed the card to buy my house a couple of years ago.

Nina, If you did not include Lane Bryant in the bankruptsy then they can not report it as "included in bankruptsy". You should have some type of proof that you paid off this account. A canceled check or many order. Is there anything you got from the bankruptsy court that lists what exactly was included? I would get myself some proof and dispute this with the bureaus.
