Subject: Clearing Credit Report of Paid Item

I live in NY. I had a credit card from Orchard Bank, whom I believe was bought by HSBC. HSBC sold my debt to a collection agency. They sued me, I paid the full amount. The CA never reported anything on my credit report, however, HSBC is listed as a "charge off" and "transfer to another lender". I have court documents stating I paid the CA, but it also lists HSBC with the original account number on the document. How should I proceed with getting HSBC listed as paid or removed from my credit report? They bought Orchard Bank after I became delinquent and I do not have anything from HSBC stating they owned the account.

Simply file a dispute with the credit reporting agency and provide a copy of the documentation that you state you have, they should update it.

I have had better success calling the credit reporting agency and talking to them on the phone. You can find their phone numbers on their webpage. Goodluck, hope you get this straightened out.
