Can a credit card company charge a monthly fee and overlimit fees when the account is closed?

Hi stardust,

A credit card company can charge any kind of fee, that were applicable on the account, still after you have closed the account. If there are any dues, or fees that you have not paid while the account was open, they can charge it, even if you have closed the account. Moreover as long as you delay in paying the fees, interest will get added to that amount. So, its better to pay off the due amount.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron.

Applied Card Bank Company.

I have been paying the minimum payment each month, which is all I can do since I have been laid off from a company I was with for 12 years.

I understand about the interest charged and such, but I saw somewhere that the credit card company cannot keep charging the monthly fee (in my case, $15.00) on top of the interest and the overlimit fee when an account was closed by my request.

Thank you both for answering. :)
