i received a collection letter today form sentry claiming that i owe a debt to compucredit; and the letter was address to my old address which i moved from almost a year ago. and most shoking is that i don't even own that account and it's not on my credit report.
i am going to send a debt validation letter adn then wait for their response and then send a cease and desist letter. however i am wondering if someone the current tenant at my old adress had opened and used a credit card in my name; what to do in this case.
i was researching that type of credit card from FIRST PREMIER BANK and i beleive they send a credit to the house and then anyone can use it; this is horrible. i dont know what to do.
any insight will be great.

There is a good possibilityt that some one else got yoru new credit card and used it

First thign you need to do is the call that credit card comapny and dispute this and cancel the card

make sure it is you call this compucredit and ask formroe details

Hi question,

I think this might be a fraud case or it might also be a case of identity theft. Well, under such circumstances you need to do a couple of things quickly. File a complaint with the State Attorney General. Contact the credit card company immediately and tell them what you are suspecting and ask them if they can cancel the card. You also need to file a complaint with the local law enforcement department. Close the credit card account.
