will paying off all my credit cards improve my credit score

Hi genamccann,

Welcome to this community :)

You need to provide more information on your credit cards, the outstanding debt amount, the credit card limits, the balances on the card, if there are any delinquencies, or other negatives, etc. These informations are required to help you in improving your credit score.

However, generally speaking, making payments on your cards, can improve your credit score. Payment history makes up for 35% of the credit score.

Thanks,

Aaron

AARON...can you please tell me what % the Lenders look at, on CR's? You said payment history is 35%. What about postive/negative credit...what %? Hope you understand my question. Thanks.

i am moving to virginia in about two weeks for a new job. my credit score is 599 and need to get a apartment. have been making payments to my credit cards on time and have been with my job for 13 years. do you see that as a problem for me for getting a apartment.

(I think I saw this same post somewhere else, on the thread). Usually Landlords look at, your credit for purposes of: are you being responsible about paying your debts on time,.....if you owe any other Landlors money (rent),...past utility bills, etc. That kind of thing.
