| I was contacted by the CDE on a tuesday they had to end the phone call because they stated the computers were shutting down due to close of the business day. I called them back on Wednesday but the contact person was not available to talk to me. On Thursday, my boss called me in because they had called him regarding this matter. I have no verification that I even owe them anything and it has already gone this far. I am so pissed!!!! Any suggestions on what I should do? |

| My adult daughter that lives 1400 miles from me just called to let me know this group had called her asking for me. She asked who they were and was given a short answer, she asked for their number to pass along to me which they refused. But they tried to pump her for my information. Funny how we have not shared a phone number or address since 1999, and they somehow connect the two dots. |

| The company called my home tel but didn't leave a message. I saw the Number onthe caller Id. I called them back using the *67 first. Some lady answered call but did not identify herself or the company. When I asked who the caller or the owner of the tel # she said CBE group and whe ni asked her what did the letter stand for..she then asked me if I was ....giving me my name..and here I thought I could block my calller ID..anyway she refuse to alk to me unless I was the person she was trying to reach. I said no I was not that person as she had a nasty irritated attitude in her voice..I guess working on Saturday caling people at home on a weekend to harrass them was not her cup of tea. Again many time I get phone calls or text msgs that seem king of fishey..d/t notices of internet scammers had do I know when something appears to be official turns out to be a good imposter scammer. I did not like the idea that she wouldn't tellme what kind of company she was calling from unless I was the right person. Why should she waste her precious breath on me..I suppose they work on commission??Lately I am getting notices from companies to clear debts by half -company was purchased by a debt collector and they are willing to assist withpayment plans...BBB and consumer affairs ID #'s are on the letterheads from the money begging companies tosettle unpaid debts. I don't have any credit cards..I had to go into bankuptcy 15 yrs ago after a major accident and I could ot work for 14 mos.so any credit card debt would have been discharged after 7-10 yrs.... |

How to sue CBE>>>
Please, send a certified letter to CBE Group at:
Corporate Office and Operational Center
131 Tower Park Drive, Suite 100
Waterloo, IA 50701.
Explain your financial situation and ask they do not attempt to contact you again regarding the debt (also send to the company that hired them). Site the federal laws that prevent creditors from making harassing phone calls. Then, once you get the certified mail return, answer the phone from CBE and log the phone call. Tell them you sent a certified letter citing federal harassment laws. keep logging the calls and keep telling them they are violiting federal harassment laws. if enough people file law suits, this company will have to start compling with federal law. I would like to start a class-action lawsuit. If you would like to be apart of a group lawsuit, please post here. |

Please note that I don't owe anyone anything and they are still calling me.
Do not give out any personal information over the phone. |

this is interesting Anon, when they call do they state who the debt is for? do they say who the original creditor is?
I have one that calls about a phone bill for a company that I never even heard of, I know how frustrating this can be, they do not believe you when you say that you have never had an account. So you must make them validate and prove to you that you have the account, you can then start doing your research from there and get rid of the bill that was never yours in the first place. |

| HA! This one makes me think of just how hopeless it is to keep someone elses creditors from calling you. Sorry to sound like a downer but I have been dealing with this for almost two years (since moving). I have told collectors that it was not my number, lied and said I was the person and wired when a real person came on the line..EVERYTHING. Yes you can tell them you will file suit and then send along the registered letter but chances are they will sell the account to another collector without removing your number (as promised) and then it starts all over. I just quit answering the phone when any unknown or private number appears on my caller id. |

Yes they too have called my home. I answered once. Am not disputing I owe a bill, but NC law states: Give no personal information out over the phone, ie; ss# and or bank account #. Asked them to mail something to my house, so I can clear the debt up. They refuse. Reported this to the Attorney General in NC. Never give information over the phone, it took me 10 years to clean up credit fraud. |

I used to work for The CBE Group and I can tell you that every collection we made there was through legal ways. Also, the reason they ask for "personal" information is to verify that it is the correct person on the phone. Though I wouldn't call your address and phone number real personal since they look most of their info up on google. As for the ssn, they only ask for the last four digits and all of this is to protect the consumer and themselves. And, actually, it is legal to call every hour on the hour between certain hours monday through saturday. It is definately a better idea to answer the call, talk to the person and find out as much as you can about the loan/debt and what you can do, because then the caller will not be calling everyday. Your account would be put into another file where they would be awaiting payment or your call back. Everyone who works at CBE is very nice when given the opportunity, remember, they talk with millions of assholes everyday, so give them a break. They wouldn't even be calling anyone if they had paid their bills in the first place.
CBE doesn't stand for anything, weird, I know, but it really doesn't.
If you really believe it is not your debt, and they keep calling, DO NOT just not answer the call because that means they have wrong information and will continue to call you until you verify that the information is wrong. It really is not that hard to say "yes" or "no" to the questions they ask you. If they call asking about another person or relative that you know, just give them a number and be done with it, or just say you have no information to give them and say "wrong number, do not call this number again." You can't blame people who call you, they are just doing their job. If you really dont want them to call anyone anymore, just pay everyones debt. They won't have anyone to call then, will they? |

Orrrrr....... You could tell the collection agency that you don't have to respond to their telephone calls, let alone their questions, particularly about a third party.

| Someone from 786 279 4791 called my cell phone....that costs ME money....I investigated and found out it was CBE Group. I owe no one. I have zero balances on all credit cards and have an excellent credit rating. Why on earth would they be calling me? I have registered both my land lines and cell phone numbers on the National Do Not Call list and shouldn't be subjected to calls that cost me money. |

like I said... Send them a written notice that you do not want calls......
They are required by law to stop. I would include a notation about the cost you have incurred as a result of their calls. _________________ -Doc Compton, Omega Credit Repair

| Angry woman, You may have a relative that has defaulted on a debt. I had a bad debt and it was so embarrassing that they would call all the people with the same last name and ask for me. They would say enough information that people could actually figure out what was going on. The worst part was my hubby had an aneyism and we just got behind on our bills and could not keep up. The pity was the most embarrassing. |

| We all should brush up on the collectors ways, we can find the laws on the FTC webpage. |
