Right on ERB. This is what I am also talking about. The whole world of credit needs a rewrite and soon. There is so much that needs changed that it has to start somewhere at sometime. New laws and regulations need to be put in place. Think about it...every place you go any docs office, hospitol dentist and so on..What is always in that stack of papers?
It is the Hippa privacy act. So where is the one in the credit world? I know we signed one recently at the bank when taking out a home loan.
They have protection in some of the right places but surely not all of them. I truly think these ticklers should be an invasion of privacy crime. It should also be punishable. Every single American has a CR especially if they establish credit (which you need as much as oxygen these days). No where did I sign away my right to be spied upon when veiwing my own personal info. What is next ticklers on online banking? Ticklers when you check your wireless or any other credit bill online? This to me needs to be stopped. |

I got this NCO FIN/22 on my credit report (showing negative), which is preventing me from getting the apartment I want. I am not aware of this. It shows one account as of 5/1/07, and the balance is N/A. Another one showing up as 4/5/08, balance $106.00, which I'm not aware of.
I read the posts on internet. Some of you suggest sending a DV letter to them. Its funny that nobody has explained what DV means, which address to send to, or which phone number to call. I'm looking for help in trying to contact them. Can't find their info on my credit report.
Plz Help! Thanks. |

I found 4 different addresses on them
NCO Financial Systems, Inc.
507 Prudential Road
Horsham, PA 19044
(800) 220-2274
http://www.ncogroup.com
*they also have many other locations within the U.S.
NCO FIN/NA
PO Box 105062
Atlanta, GA 30348
NCO Group, Inc.
NCO FIN/NA
2675 Breckinridge Blvd
Duluth, GA 30096
NCO Financial
Phone: 800-550-9619
PO Box 13574
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19101-3574
I think the first one is the one you need though, I think it may be there main office, you now have two phone numbers that you can call and see what is up with the account anyway.
A DV letter is a debt validation letter, you are simply requesting that they validate the debt and that you owe it to them. You can find sample letters on this site and some really good ones on the debt site also (just click the debt link at the top of the page, they have a whole do it yourself section with some really good letters there).
goodluck, if you need more help, come on back. |

Hi Roger
Erb is right. Debt validation is a most important instrument to fight against the collection agencies. Under the fair debt collection Practices Act, you have the full right to ask the CA for validating your debt. Debt validation means that the CA has to prove in writing whether you actually owe the debt or not. You can get a sample Debt validation letter from the link.

It is probably going to be too late to get the apartment that you want, it will take longer than thirty days, will they keep the apartment that long for you? Debt validation does not mean that they will take it off either, you will have to file a dispute with the credit reporting agencies to do this if they do not validate it for them either. _________________ Goodnatured,

| Usually they won't hold apartments this long unless you have a good relationship or ties to the owner. |

| This is true, I know in our area there are waiting lists so I know it would not be there waiting after 30 days, I would try and clear this up as soon as possible. I don't think it is fair that you are paying the price for something that is not yours in the first place. |

| You still awake ERB? Thought I lost ya there a while back. I agree with the unfairness of the issue and agree also that the OP needs to clear up this matter asap. |

Hi Roger
You should immediately send your DV letter to NCO FIN/22 and wait for 30 days to receive the validation. If they cannot validate your debt, send dispute letters to credit bureaus telling them that you do not agree with the listing. Until you get the listing removed from your credit report, your score will not improve. This will prevent you from getting the apartment you desire. _________________ Anthony Marx

Well they have no reason to at that point, get them right a way before you pay the bill. _________________ Goodnatured,
