If you are close to the sol being done with the sol, I would not pay them either. _________________ Goodnatured,

I always hate to say that but the fact is you are completely right in my eyes...what break do they give you? 50% its still way more than a person defaulted on to begin with.

NCO is difficult to 'handle'. I;ve gotten letters, from them, about debts that were SUPER old. I know the SOL has expired. ONE of them had a 'fall off' date for last year. Why waste your money 're-starting' the debt? No reason to.

Thats my thoughts exactly SD. I have one final one that falls off next year. I will be glad when that happens. Have you tried to send cease and desist letter to those super old ones? I know that it only works for a little while and then they sell the debt but at least they would leave you be for a little bit. Either that just file 13 (garbage) them as they come in.

Well...I figure there is no reason to talk to anyone or send letters about them. Just TOO old now. "File 13"?....I got that one pretty organized. LOL

Here too. I remember going to the mailbox and my heart would literally go to my throat if I found one of these letters in there. I would open them and see the outrageous amount they had wanted and lose sleep for days. I got to the point I said to myself that I can not pay it regardless of what is in the letter so I just started throwing them in the trash. I know this probally seems like I was being immature but really I had nothing to give them (hubby died) and couldn't see opening the letter and just getting more worked up. They had never wanted to work with me in the beginning only when the $300 debt turned into thousands and then they still wanted me to settle at half. I asked them where their willingness was to settle when the debt was just in the lower triple digits instead of the higher four digits. Of course that question never got an naswer.

Hubby died? OMG!! I'm sorry. I din't know that..I'm sorry. When the debt is 'low' and the CA's din't want to work with you then, then why should you work with them now? Here's alittle piece of advice. You can't worry about something you can't do anything about, at that time.

That was years ago SD and tehn I did it alone for a while before meeting my new hubby. Problem was I would pay on the debt every now and again and it would move up the SOL. I had no idea this was what I was doing. I just was a nervous wreck thinking the new hubby would answer the phone when one of these places called or get the mail when they sent one of there letters demanding huge amounts of money. I quit worrying a long time ago. I started going insane loosing all the sleep. My new nightmare has been since I was injured in a wreck in July 2007...I am still waiting for my lost wages, medical bill repay (what I have paid out of pocket) and pain and suffedring. I can not use my right hand much and lost my job over this accident and yet these stupid attys just want to wait until it gets close to the SOL and then try to settle. I pushed them and now they are moving..after a accumulated over $10,000 in new debt. SUCKS>>>

Wow, hope that you can get things straightened out soon, sorry to hear that you have had such a bad time, hopefully your future holds some better times ahead.
Are you still fighting your law suit with the accident? should they not be settling out some time soon? Hopefully you will get good news soon, I will keep my fingers crossed for you. _________________ Goodnatured,

Yes still fighting and it is really getting annoying. They needed what is called a 5500 form from my health insurance to show what they wanted to satisfy the lein they placed against the settlement. My atty knew this for over four months and never put any effort into getting it. They just kept calling the health cares atty and leaving messages. I ask them how they expected to get this form since they have been calling for 4 months and not getting anywhere. She said while when we get closer we will deal with that. They can not pay me what I am owed though until thye satisfy all leins...which means they need this form! I spent a good three hours on the phone MYSELF tracking down the hold up. It was being held up by my husbads employer due to worker confidentiality. I called had it released and it shoould be on the way. A little more effort and they could have figured out what was going on. At the end I am going to tell the main atty how much work I , myself, have put into this...

I will. I have already been told a head of time that the other company will hold out for as long as possible. they will use tactics like asking for more and more documents and whatever they can to aggravate the other person and hopefully get them to the point where they just want to settle no matter for what amount. I am going to hang in there because their driver left me with a lifelong injury and I don;t think they should just walk away with not paying much since my income will be sure to change with my diability.

Have you thought about applying for disability, I don't know if they will do anything with a pending lawsuit, but you did lose income, you may want to go to the social security webpage and check this out. _________________ Goodnatured,

I hear you, I bet you can not wait until this is over and you can move on with your life. I have had a lot of health issues myself this year, seems like my chronic has become deteriorating sometimes, it is definately worse this year. I am 70 percent disabled veteran right now, the dav seems to think that I could easily be 100%% according to my records. I have to write them a letter so they can review my case and move it forward through the VA channels. I am on four different medications taken a few times a day now. _________________ Goodnatured,
