This collection agency put two accounts on my credit reports. They failed to mail any letter regarding these accounts or I would have validated. So I used the name and address they had on my credit reports and have requested validation, which they have failed to provide so far.

They have them listed on my credit reports as follows:

Date Opened: 02/2009
Reported Since: 05/2009
Original Amount: $50
Recent Balance: $170

Date Opened:12/2008
Reported Since: 03/2009
Original Amount: $46
Recent Balance: $169

I have never opened any BMG Music accounts on the dates stated. There are many complaints about this very same agency all over the internet where they are failing to send people letters about these alleged debts. People are only finding out about this by checking their credit reports.

I am waiting to see what kind of validation I receive.

Hello red, With the internet as it is today it would be easy for someone to simply enter your information on the BMG site and have cds charged to you. If your are positive you did not open this account I would request validation by certified mail, being sure to include a time frame (30 days). If they do not validate in that time frame I would dispute the charge.
Also you may want to contact your atty general and the FTC on this matter so they do not continue this unfair practice.

I finally received something from them, but it is only a printout of what I supposedly owe. They did not provide the date of first delinquency nor did they provide any records from BMG.

Should I send another validation letter or a cease and desist?
