Medical Billing Errors - Paid Collections, now what?

I have three separate Medical bills that all went to collections.

The amounts were small no more than $150 and nowhere else on my credit report do I have a single late payment - not one thing.

At the time, the medical bills are from a time when they did not believe I was covered. The bills were supposed to be picked up by CDPHP but were not, as they were never reported to the insurance agency even though I was covered.

I paid off the four debts (3 agencies, one with two debts) because I was desperate and didn't know what to do.

What can I do now? Who can I dispute? I'm having my insurance agency mail me a letter saying that they never received a letter for claims of the dates of service that the creditors note. (sorry for the mouthful).

What can I do?

Hi vbr,

Welcome to this community :)

Can you please be more clear on your query? Do you want to get the money from your insurance company? Are these items there on your credit report? If so, then what is the status of the accounts? Were these handed over to collection agencies?

If you want to get the money from the insurance company, you will have to show them that you paid these bills.

Who can I dispute?

What is it that you want to dispute?

Thanks,

Aaron

I would like to have the "paid accounts" removed from my credit report because I was covered the entire time, so I never should have had to pay money to the collectors to begin with.

I'm not so much concerned with getting the money back, but I want to dispute the items on my credit report. The bills ranged from $20 to $150, nothing major.

The rest of my credit report is perfect, I've always paid in full and on-time.

Hi,

Welcome to creditmagic

You can surely dispute the entries by informing it to credit bureaus and insurance companies as well (just for reference).

Accounts cannot be removed as such from your credit report. The negative entries can be removed.

According to a new law the paid medical collections are supposed to be removed from your credit report within 30-45 days of the payment.

Thanks,
