Collection agency not validating debt

I learned about this collection from a letter that was mailed to my home. Then sent a debt validation letter to them within 2 days of receiving the letter. I have a delivery confirmation that it was delivered. They did not respond to my DV letter. I received another letter demanding money before a certain date or legal action will be taken.

The letter from the collection agency states this is a pre-legal notification if i do not submit a payment to the by 10.10.10. It instructs me to call them and set up further payment plan.

Can someone tell me what action i should take next?

Hi Scaffeld,

No collection agency can continue with the collection process till they validates your debt. You have the right to dispute this debt with the credit bureaus. You should also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and your State Attorney General, as the collection agency have violated the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

Thanks,

Aaron

this is illegal

do you have all your credit reports?
what state are you in?
what is the original creditor and the name of the CA?
what is the date of first delinquency? 30 days after last payment
