Subject: Help paid collection not removed as agreed

So when I first started disputing collections on my credit I paid a few off with the verbal aggreement of them being removed. Of course they werent and for the last 2 years I've been disputing them with no success. Would a verification letter request help with this? please help.

Always always get these things in writing. This happens so much when people don't get a pay for delete in writing. I am not sure what you can do at this time but someone should be along shortly to answer your question.

Hi iancka
I agree with Fireyone. Whenever you make a pay for deletion agreement, it should be made before you pay off the debt and should be in writing. This is because if they have made a verbal agreement with you, they may not remove the listing from your report even after you pay it off in full and you will have no documents in support of the agreement that the CA has agreed for PFD. However, if you have it in writing, even if the CA does not remove the listing from the report, you can directly dispute the listing with the credit bureaus.

At this point since you have not been successful over a long period of time, you should send the company a letter requesting that they remove it, see if they will do it as a good will gesture, they may since you held up your end of the bargain and paid it off. Worth a shot.

Anything is worth a shot. It never hurts to ask but usually if it wasn't in writing you will find they are less likely to do any good will.

Good natured,

I always prefer to do my disputes via USPS. I have found that a good letter with proof as to why I am disputing a listing, Along with some FCRA statues thrown in goes a lot farther than an online dispute. The CRAs online disputes don't leave you alot of room to explain your disputes. They give you 3 or 4 different reasons to dispute the listing and if your reason isnt there....IDK how you do it online!

I could see where this would be more effective if they get a pile of information in the mail on paper and if you have all the evidence of everything that proves your dispute.

thank you for the advice.

Gn I really agree with CMBV here. She makes a very good point on the differences between USPS and online. If you have the need to maybe do some in depth explaining when you dispute you may find the good old fashioned way may get you results a little quicker. Good Luck.
