We agreed to a settlement with Brachfeld and they were to take $1500 out of our bank for 3 months. The agreed amount was $4500. That was completed in February. They have now withdrawn a 4th amount for another $1500. We have filed an unauthorized withdrawal with our bank, but that will take 12 days to process. In the meantime, we are overdrawn. Am trying to contact somebody at Brachfeld but no one seems to know anything. What are our options?

Pattie, do you have a copy of the agreement between you and Brachfeld? If so you can make several calls and get this resolved. One is to the atty general. Also you can call the BBB. Maybe they will assist you in getting some type of financial restitution for the pver draft fees. My next advice would be if you can not block them from accessing your account again then I would close that account and open another. This will make sure this doesn't happen in the future. Be sure since you have fullfilled paying off this debt that you get proof and keep it in a safe place. Several times I have heard of paid debts ending back up in collections.

Hi Pattie
I too think that you should file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission in case you do not get refund of your money. Filing a complaint with the FTC is very much effective in solving such types of problem. You can close down the existing account, but before closing the account, make sure that you have with you the statements proving that you have made payments towards the debt in three installments.

You can visit the FTC webpage at www.ftc.gov. Click on the consumer complaints tab and it will get you started int he right direction. Also if you want to call the number to reach them at should also be posted on that site. Stop back and let us know if you get this issue resolved or if you need anymore help.
