Can Judgements on a credit report that are over 7 years old be removed?

That will depend on the law according to your state, what state are you from, someone will come and let you know the laws for your state. I will check back in a bit if nobody gets to it and you leave the information, I will find it for you.

Hi appelcatherine
Judgments whether paid or not stay in your credit report for seven years or until the statute of limitation in your state has expired, whichever is later. Any judgment in your credit report will be automatically removed by the credit bureaus. If you find it not removed, you can send dispute letters to the bureaus asking them to remove it from your credit report.

Justin is right. But as far as I know, there are certain states in US like California where judgments can stay for ten years. In California, the creditor also has the right to renew the judgment for another ten years and so your judgment may stay in your report for 20 years and this extension of ten years can be done repeatedly by your creditor.

Hi Fireyone
As far as I know, judgments against you can not only garnish your wages but can also take your home away from you. If happens mostly when you have missed mortgage payments and your creditor sues you to the court for foreclosure of your property. However, your property can be taken only if it is in your name. If the home is in the name of other family members they cannot take the property.

Wow that is sad. What if it is in your husbands and yours but the debt is only owed by you?
