Hi Everyone! I have lots of debt collection pending. Now I am getting pressurized as how to collect it? I have put all my efforts to collect the debt amount but still not able to recover it at all. I also don’t want to go with hard recovery. Please suggest any help to recover the debt amount.

Hi, don’t worry the same thing had happened with one of my friend and he came across one debt collection service provider [deleted] - Violation of forum rules - Richard. It really helped him a lot. I will suggest you to go with it. Hopefully your problem will also get solved. All the best!

I would advice you to contact your debtors first and tell them that you are going to report to the CRA about their debt if they do not repay them and remind them that once the debt gets enlisted in the credit report it will stay there for seven years and hamper their credit score. Give them a date by which you want the money back. If they do not respond there is no other way, but to sell off your debt to a collection agency.

I agree with Mary. Since you do not want to go for hard recovery, it is better to warn them that you will be reporting to the credit bureaus if they do not repay you and this will give negative impact on their credit report for seven years. If they want to come to a repayment plan with you, agree to the repayment plan and get your money back.

Daniel,
Where we live there are shelters with case managers that help people get their life back on track, is there something like this in your area? You can also find counselling at a consumer credit counselor, just google it, they are every where, they will not be able to help you with the homeless part but they will be able to properly counsel you on the credit issues and getting rid of the debt. goodluck, hope things start to look up for you soon.

hi Daniel
I agree with goodnatured. You should immediately consult a credit counselor who can definitely help you out. Moreover, I think you should go for a debt consolidation loan to pay off your existing debt. This is because I think you may be paying high interest rates on your existing debts and if this continues you may fall in a debt trap. So I think going for debt consolidation is a better option.

This is the only way that I see that any of this is possible, you need to get into a shelter that will provide you with the counselling that you need and get further referrals to other agencies that will help you address your other problems.

There is a lot of help in your community as goodnatured has stated, you just need to find the right connections. Find a good referral source and follow through with what they tell you to do.

My brother had to get help with housing due to his credit and a stay in the local jail. At first he did not want to ask for help but when he did he was amazed at how much help was actually out there. You just got to take the first step. Good Luck.

I work with a felony program at work, they really don't have much out there to help them. Are you talking about section 8 or public housing?

Not sure. I never really asked for any detail from him.

Almost has to be, I know the prison society don't do much when it comes to housing.

Acquiring a debt settlement is one way to deal with debt problems. What are the steps on getting approved for a debt settlement? What points should you remember before seeking debt settlement? Here are some tips for you:

Know the type of your debt. You should be aware that not all kinds of debt can qualify for a debt settlement. Ask your debt settlement company whether the debts you owe are acceptable or not. Usually, the types of debt that are suitable for settlement are personal loans, medical debt, credit card debts- just to name a few. Debts that would not qualify are loans with collateral such as government loans, mortgages, car loans, military debts and loans from Credit Unions.

Calculate your total debts. Before seeking debt settlement, you should be aware of exactly how much you owe your creditors. Deciding whether to get a debt settlement service or to negotiate on your own is up to you. Remember that debt settlement is an option for people with huge debts on their account. This because a debt settlement enables a borrower to slash off as much 40-60% from the original amount of debt owed.

It probably was, there are still the do gooders in our society that are willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, even our felon population has people out there just dying to save them.

That is true. I tried to quit saving the felon world. Never got me anywhere except blue in the face.
