I am also one of those customers that got the shaft from this debt settlement company. I had been with there program for almost four months and they, not ounce, contacted any of the list of companies that I owed. I am also being sued and this was the main account I told the customer service person at JHas that I needed them to take care of first. For the first three months of this program money was taken out of my account, the payment was suppose to be bimonthly, and left me with no money in my account that I would have used for gas, food, living expenses ect. After three months a different customer service agent contacted me and told me my payment was going to be lowered because the one client, the main one I needed them to settle with first, was not on this list anymore because a summons was delivered to me and they could not handle this client because of this action. After I explained to this customer service person that a contract is a contract, I then had this person close my account and legal proceedings will be started against them for breach of contract. The "third party" in this case, the trust where my money was being held, I contacted and had them also close the account. According to there agreement the money in this account was suppose to be forwarded back into the account where it had be drawn from. I checked the account three days later and the money was gone, but it did not go to the account where it came from. I called and they informed me that the money was sent to JHas Group for fees and other services. We are not talking about a few dollars, I was floored. To this day I have phoned JHas Group three times and left messages and to this day have received nothing but a message from a customer service person asking me to call and "she has some good news". I have no idea how anyone feels, but I am going to do everything I can to make sure that this does not happen again. I have thought over the past few weeks, after all this, that this economy is bad enough and yes I do have debts, but I was on the track to get my debt settled and cleared. Now all I have is no money and all the accounts that I listed with JHas Group have been calling. Funny how these accounts found out so fast that I had closed my account withJHas Group.

Can't you get an attorney and sue the consolidation company. You are right a contract is a contract. They should honor it and if they have caused you a bigger head ache, which they have so you should have one hell of a lawsuit against them.

Raymond, I really think at this point you need to contact the atty general and tell he or she what this company is doing. I do not believe what they are doing is proper and they are misguiding you. You also need to make sure you file an answer to this summons and let the judge know about the debt settlement company also. I thought I remembered reading that a debt settlement company could not charge fees and such until they have taken care of your collectors. Maybe someone here will know the exact rules or you could ask the atty gen. That to me would be a good start.

They have done wonders for me in the past when dealing with collection agencies, they respond very quickly also, usually with in about a week.

That is what the agency is there for. I know they have one of the quickest response times as opposed to the FTC and other agencies. Once a company is contacted by someone ,like the atty generals office, they are usually quick to make the customer happy and resolve any issues. Let us know how you are doing. I do believe you will find the right help by making the call.

I'm reading all of these posts and I have to admit I'm kinda floored. I got in over my head trying to keep my family afloat in this horrible economy and I just couldn't make it anymore. I found myself looking for debt help online and came across some information about debt settlement. Through American Debt Settlement Group I signed up with the J.Hass Group and I have to say they are outstanding. This is a truely family run business and they have treated me like family too. The more I learn from my CSR over there the more I realize just how much we are all getting the shaft from teh creditors. I have proof of my docs going to the creditor, but the creditor said they never received it. Sure I didn't believe the J.Hass Group at first, but then I tried sendign a copy and sure nuff the creditor said they never received my stuff eeither. Unbelievable! Then I was workign on a settlment with my negotiator and the creditor tried to call me direclty and work a deal, but wouldn't get me a letter saying paid. These people at J.Hass know what they are doing. Its the creditors and these big banks that are getting bailouts that are screwing us. First they take my tax money for corporate jets and then they try to take all my savings. Sure they may sue you, but you can't squeeze blood from a turnip. Thank God for the J.Hass group. They said its rough, and they're right.

If you have a problem, just call them. They'll get things straightened out. Thats what they do. We had an error where the money got pulled on the wrong day because I changed my bank account, quick phone call to explain the situation and a couple of days latter the money was there. No big deal. Heck yes they charge a fee, but I'd charge a lot more if I wsa doing what they do having to put up with the scummy collectors all day. Like I said, call them, write them, let them fix it. The AG isn't going to fix things for you, they just waste more of your tax dollars. Like my daddy always said, ain't nothing two people can't fix if they sit downs and talk.

I just wanted to come on here and defend these fine folks, and tell everyone to calm down. I know one of the owners of this company from past dealings and these people literally saved my life. I had been working with some of these folks back in 2005 when I was living in New Orleans. We had come close to a settlement on my Chase account and were going back and forth over a few final dollars. Needless to say Hurrican Katrina threw curve ball at me and flooded out my neighborhood and my house. While the hurricane was coming through, these folks were still working on my case and calling me to get the settlement approved. When they finally got ahold of me I said I couldn't take the settlement, and explained that my house was under water. They asked if there was anything they could do to help. Their call was great timing since it was the first cell call I had had in over three days of sitting in my flooded house and finally making my way to the roof. These people called the coast guard for me and within no time a helicopter was there to pluck me from the roof. Thanks again guys.

j hass group is a ripoff. if you do not have enough money to settle an account on your own, j hass cannot multilpy it for you. you will be charged off. the success stories come from people who already had the means to settle their own debts and sadly paid j hass for nothing. i know because i have been on the other end of the phone for 20 years. be very careful when selecting assistance with debt. i recommend money management international, they DO NOT CHARGE for their services and if you do not have the money to repay your debts, they will honestly tell you just that. they offer live counselors on the phone 24/7 and again, they DO NOT CHARGE FOR THEIR SERVICES. good luck!

I've been in their program for almost 6 mo. now. I was very sceptical about them until I understood how they operate. They make deals with Debt Collectors, not the Creditors. What the heck, They got their bail out, take yours. Remember, creditors will call you everyday, trying to retrieve their monies. Inform them that they shouldn't contact you again in regards to this debt, but instead call J. Hass. This is a Law, FDCPA..Federal Fair Debt collection Practices Act. They will stop calling, or face the charges for not doing so. TAKE A BAILOUT AMERICA...

Wow. I have to say that if enough consumers in this country knew how to manage their money, they could not only get their credit repaired, but could pay pennies on the dollar for what they owed. Five steps need to be taken, and it won't happen overnight, and you need to be creative. If you happen to be (please don't take this the wrong way) a slacker who just doesn't handle your money properly, but have a job and are not being evicted or are nursing a drug habit of some type (alcohol, tobacco, heroin, etc) there is hope for you!
1) order your free credit report, list the derogatories, charge offs, and open/paying accounts.
2)list the creditors on the report. Generally, if the debt is worth collecting (in the creditor's eyes), they will order your credit report to try to find you if they do not have current contact info. It's legal for them to do this, so don't get upset. You can view who made inquiries, which usually lists any of the third party agencies that may have tried to contact you.
3) Be proactive! You need to contact these companies and open the door for negotiations! Evasive debtors create anxious collectors! Be calm, give them ONE good contact number to reach you that is convenient for YOU. If you are honestly looking to resolve the debt in their office, and actually follow up with them, they have no reason to call relatives, neighbors, or any other third party for that matter.
4) Be open to the suggestion of settling your debt. Even if you know you are not going to have 500 dollars next week or tomorrow, follow up with the collector and let them know that you made a sincere effort, but just can't afford to settle at this time. If your credit report is as bad as it seems, they will most likely entertain a monthly arrangement until you can muster up enough cash to actually PROPOSE a settlement to the creditor. Odds are, they won't say ok to 50.00 per month unless it's obvious that you truly have no where to turn. If your credit report reflects a poor payor history (i.e. you havent paid anyone except for the doctor that delivered you at birth and/or your taxes) that 50.00 might be a posibility.
5)Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each creditor, working out your budget accordingly. If you can't afford yo pay everyone at once, attack the creditors that are current, followed by the most delinquent, from largest to smallest. Negotiation is the key here. No need to pay a credit counselor to call his buddy at the collection agency that he deals with every month. You can get the same savings on your own!

i am with J Hass debt settlement group since last 6 month. First 5 month i was very nervous and scared, but finally they start settling my credit cards one by one. All you have to do is have patient and be ready for little extra cash. If your credit card company ready to settle you account with good offer, J hass will ask you to come up with more payment per moonth for next two or three month. so don't be surprised or scared if all of the sudden they ask you for more money. I did the same, i got scared first but than my credit card company called me and i talked to them directly and they explained to me that they are offering really low settling offer and if i don't except this now than it won't come back again. I called Ja hass and i agrred to pay more money for 3 months to settle one of my credit card. I also called my credit card company to see if they (j hass) is paying them and they are.
I'm so happy now and debt free and just 6 month. I recomand everyone to go for J HASS. DON"T WORRY. They are the best.

It seem to me that that is bad say about this group than good. I have been with this program for 9 months now andso far...only 1 settlement was resolved I got a lawsuit letter in the mail and contacted them twice... they are okay but it seem like I have to do all the work but they will do the rest. I check them out on BBB.. finding out that BBB does not know much about this business.. it was open up in 2008..ton and ton of complaint file against them and got an "F" rate from BBB. I don't know if I should stay with them... Any suggestion????

June,

Im also with J Hass and was concerned with thier BBB rating. I called my salesperson at American Debt Settlemetn Group and they informed me that the BBB has changed thier rating system so that a Debt Settlement Company cannot gain any higher than a D rating with them. She also told me that the J Hass group has over 18,000 clients, and when i looke don the BBB they had only 50 or so complaints so thats not to bad. I have a small buisness and i service probably 1000 or so customers and i have 5 complaints for various refund issues that i have resolved, but it seems to me that they have a better complaint rate than even i do. So far i have only been with them for 8 months or so. Not to much has been done on my account but im saving money for settlements and they say that they are working on it. They gave me a device for my phone that really hleps with the collection calls so that was a huge plus. I also really liek that i can see thier settlements each month on my website. Thier is not alot of info on thier but i like that feature. We will see how it goes, but so far so good. I hope this helps. If you need to talk to someone just call, i have been workign with JP and he has been amazing at the customer service #.
