There is a number that is constantly ringing my phone off the hook. I have looked it up and can find very little anything on this number. Does anyone know what this number is:877-465-9099. I am thinking it is probably for the people who had my number before but if it is and I pick it up then they will definatley never stop. They always think I am the lady who use to have this number and become such a pain.
I have thought about reporting but they just resell their debt and it starts all over.

I did a bit of googling and found that 877-465-9099 is one of the numbers of Sallie Mae. Now, can you tell whether or not there are any unknown collection agency on your credit report?
Do you have any kind of loan with this company?

Thanks Aaron, I have never had anything through Sallie Mae. My thoughts are that the people who had this number before me must have. I always get calls for the old owners of my number and have found it is almost immpossible to keep up with reporting the debt collectors because they just sell the debt and it starts all over.
Usually I will pick it up once and inform them this is no longer the "Smith's" number and it sometimes quits and other times They think I am "jan Smith" and keep calling. Ignoring the calls usually works. I will keep you informed of the situation.

If just asking them to stop, and informing them that the person they are looking for is not you does not work, you can let them know that this is a violation of Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. You can also as a result of the violation you can sue them for harassing you over the phone for a debt which hasn't been incurred by you. If they become abusive, you can recored the conversation as proof.
