I am new to this but recently I became a victim of id theft. I filed a police report and a id theft report per the ftc's website. I also sent the police report and id theft report along with the effected accounts to all three credit agencies. Now my question is will these agencies remove those accounts from my credit file is there anything else I should do? Also in my packet I sent to all three agencies I requested a security freeze. Thank you to everybody for you're help

Jason

Ji Jkasten,

I think you have done what was required. The agencies have to remove those accounts as soon as your documents will prove that you have been a victim to id theft. Just check with the agencies regarding the security freeze once. Close those accounts that the fraud has opened in your name quickly.

Jason, I am really sorry to hear of your situation. It seems you have done everything that is needed to do.
What i am wondering is since the credit reporting agencies have to remove these listing then this should keep those accounts from effecting the posters score, right?
I have always heard that it is almost impossible to get your report cleared after id theft. Hopefully this is not the case. Hopefully all the accounts that were tampered with were covered by fraud protection and the poster will not be liable for them.
