A credit score is a numerical expression based on a statistical analysis of a person's credit files, to represent the creditworthiness of that person. A credit score is primarily based on credit report information, typically sourced from credit bureaus.
Lenders, such as banks and credit card companies, use credit scores to evaluate the potential risk posed by lending money to consumers and to mitigate losses due to bad debt. Lenders use credit scores to determine who qualifies for a loan, at what interest rate, and what credit limits. The use of credit or identity scoring prior to authorizing access or granting credit is an implementation of a trusted system.
Credit scoring is not limited to banks. Other organizations, such as mobile phone companies, insurance companies, employers, landlords, and government departments employ the same techniques. Credit scoring also has a lot of overlap with data mining, which uses many similar techniques.

Hi, The best thing you can do is pay down your bills and pay them on time and dont apply for too many credit cards as this will lower your score.

Hi Daniel,

The best way to increase your credit score would be to pay more than just the minimum, at the highest percentage rate. Do not apply for new credit cards. Instead if you have more than 3-4 credit cards close some off the newer ones.

Hello Daniel,

Do you have any credit cards now?

If your score is that low than in all honesty you are going to have to consider saving up some money to put down on a secured credit card because i don't think there are many companies that would give you a credit card right now without charging you through the roof for it. And applying and being denied will only lower your score further.

Although when you first open up a new credit card you may see a slight decrease in your score each and every month that goes by that you make an ontime payment you should start to see your credit score rise.

Good luck!

Hi,

Technically, since you’re not borrowing any money, a home loan modification won’t hurt your credit score. If you’re paying less in interest, you have a smaller debt burden. And since most lenders prefer an interest rate reduction, there’s a pretty good chance that a mortgage loan modification will improve your credit score.
