Hi Swift,
To remove the tax liens that are wrongly listed on your credit report, you should send a "Dispute Letter" to the credit bureaus. It is possible that the bureaus will take longer than 30 days (usual time for replying to dispute of errors), to reply to your "Dispute Letter" for removal of federal tax liens. You can enclose with the your "Dispute Letter" the Certificate of Release of Federal Tax Lien. At the same time you can also contact the IRS and request them to report to the bureaus, that an error has been made.
As far as the tax lien which is correctly listed is concerned, will stay on your credit report for 7 years, from the day it was released. However, you must review your credit report to check whether the lien has been listed as "Paid". If the tax lien has not been listed as "Paid", it can stay on your credit report for an indefinite time period. _________________ SCOTT
