I just don't think that they would go after an individual if they could tag it to a business.

I think that since you have given your personal details to B of A for opening a business credit card account, they have your personal details with which they can try to reach your personal credit report. I am not sure whether they can include this in your personal credit report or not, and so I think that you should consult an attorney immediately before the listing appears in your credit report.

Hi Frank
Your old credit hurts your credit score for seven years form the date you became delinquent. It affects your credit score for seven years after which it usually goes off from your credit report. Once these unpaid listing gets off from your credit report, it no more decreases your credit score and your credit score starts increasing. So since your debt has been 15 years it will no more hurt your credit score.

I would just send them a debt validation letter, they will probably not be able to and then they will have to leave you along.

That would be my advice too. If you need any help knowing how this process works just let us know.

You may just be better off leaving it alone, if it is 15 years old.

and I would say if they don't have the sense not to give you that much credit, maybe you should have the sense not to accept it with the little bit of income that you have. I am just looking at the big picture here, if you get into something to deep they may arrest you for fraud eventually if you keep getting these large lines of credit, using them up and not using them.

Be the smart one, don't accept what you can't pay, I am saying this is for your own protection.

I agree with leaving it alone. I believe and correct me if I am wrong here GN, if any payment is made it restarts SOL and if you can't pay this isn't a good idea.

I too agree with Mary in the sense that a debt which is older than seven and a half years cannot be collected either by the original creditor or by a collection agency. So you can send a debt validation letter to the CA and I am sure they will not be able to validate it. If they don't validate it and still disturb you for the debt, complain against them to the FTC. Don't make even a single payment on the debt that is 15 years old.

IKt really shouldn't even be interferring with this persons credit. I can't imagine a debt that old to still be listed on their credit report and if it is can't it be agrued as obsolete?

Subject: FIA CSNA account I knew nothing about

Posted on Wed Aug 13, 2008 5:57 pm

I called the 800-421-2110 number they were very helpful in closing out a credit card Sun Trust had issued for me that I knew nothing about and never used. It had been opened in 2004 with a 6,000.00 limit. FIA CSNA closed out the account today. I will check later to see if in fact this was as easy an evolution as it appeared to be or not.

You should also check your credit record and make sure there are no errors there also. Did they happen to explain how a credit card was even issued in your name?
