Subject: FIA is a rip off in all aspects, Do not use them again

Posted on Wed Aug 20, 2008 10:40 pm

FIA does not stand for anything ask an account manager.
They really seem to a time based customer pay by latenesss and extremekly high interest rates compared to others. They first suck you in with promotions, interest free, consolidation etc. then they will get you later in time. The way they really make their money is on late fees, and by changing billing cycles w/ less than two week notices. With my internet account they charge a fee for transfering money payment from a regualr a bank account when paying. This takes two days!
With my on line account I can never get anything instantaneous at all. One thing if I pay 100 dollars @ their 20 % interest. There is nothing instantaneous on the internet account to tell me what was paid by principal and/ or interested.
They really suck. Members of credit unions, never use this company.

Disclosure: All opinions are my own and I take full responsibilitities for my opinion.

Thanks

Thanks for the info Scott. Myself I have never dealyt with them but by the sounds of it I wouldn't want to. Have you considered turning them into the Better Business Bureau? Sometimes a person has to take the first step aganst a company like this to get others to be aware of them.

I would file complaints with the better business bureau, their states attorney general office, your attorney generals office and any other reporting agency that you can.

This is a credit repair forum, we have no control over your credit report, may I make the suggestion that you get the address off your credit report and contact the company directly and request that they cancel whatever it is that you have with them.

If you need help finding the contact information please come back with the company name and people will help you find what you need and advise you on how to handle this situation. Hope to hear from you soon.

Subject: Is it a loan?

I just had a sizable amount show up in my checking account too. Is it a loan or something else? It's Sunday or I'd be on the phone with bank pronto.

woooooooohoooooooooooo, go shopping!!!!!!! No just kidding, you should call your bank and find out where the money came from, you don't want to end up paying back a loan companies outrageous fees if it is something that you did not apply for. Consult with your bank first thing in the morning and you will be able to find out what it is all about and take care of it then.

Def hold your horses. I had this happen to me just this past summer. Mysteriously $1500 deposit was put into my account. I called the bank and they tracked it to my account being close to someone elses and deposited wrongly. They were suppose to place it in its rightful spot but the next day I had $3000 dep. Knowing I am not THAT lucky I called again. Here they took it out of the other persons account and out another $1500 in mine. It took about a week and they straightened it.
The person must of had a nice nest egg to not miss $3000.

Subject: Relative of Cardholder Unfairly Harassed by FIA Card Service

Posted on Wed Sep 17, 2008 3:22 pm

STAY AWAY FROM FIA CARD SERVICES!! My son who is in his early twenties received a credit card branded Harris Bank managed by FIA Card Services North America. He moved and missed a payment. My son and I have the same first and last name but different middle initial. FIA Card services uses a collection agency called ACT Collection Services in Kansas City. ACT Collection Services uses a third party service obviously from India. I received a phone call asking about a card that I did not own and after a few phone calls, established that it was not mine but my sons. I told them that I would contact my son and that they should no longer call me as he does not live here and is on his own. The phone calls continued - ACT continued to call my wife's business line and any relatives who shared our same last name. This morning I received a call again from a person from India who told me "we are going to keep calling you until we hear from your son." That was it for me - I called and spoke to people from ACT, FIA, Bank of America (who I believe owns FIA), and will contact Harris Bank. No relatives of a cardholder should be harassed that way. I am reporting them to the state's attorney and will continue to spread the word about these practices. My advice is to stay away from any credit cards managed by FIA Card Services.

Search words: FIA CSNA ; FIA Card Services NA ; FIA Card Services ; ACT Collection Services ; Bank of America ; Harris Bank ; Harassment of cardholder’s relatives

You should report them to your attorney general and they will take care of them. they are violating your rights. I had acredit card company do this to me. they kept calling all my relatives and even gave them info on who they were.

Even if they harass you over phone, they cannot take out money from you since you are no way responsible for your son's debt. All that you can do to avoid them is, not to pick up the phone when they call you. You can also file a complaint with the State Attorney General's office and the Federal Trade commission. It is not only the case with ACT Collection Services, but other CAs also harass people in this manner when it comes to collecting the debt.

This is your best shot aside from changing your phone number. even that only works for a little while..they always seem to get a hold of the new number somehow.
