I know, if you pay anything then it will start the statute of limitations all over again, that is why it is so important to learn about the fair debt collection law. The more we know the better protected we are. _________________ Goodnatured,

Yes Goodnatured, Once your SOL is over, if you pay any amount, the SOL will rewind and you will be liable to pay the entire debt. So before paying back any debt, you should make sure whether the SOL in your state has expired or not.
and Fireyone,
You can find the fair debt collection practices act if you go to the link http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf _________________ Anthony Marx

I think that alot of people don't understand this part of debt collection, I did not know jack about the statute of limitations until I came here. I had already paid some that were out of the sol, but was actually glad to have them out of my hair. _________________ Goodnatured,

| True but when money is so tight its hard to let it go. I can say that if I had it I would get rid of my last old account. I hate when an unknown number comes up and I don't know who it is. Sometimes it is actually a phone call I needed. |

Yes and then they do and get my hubby upset. Seems like I am forevr dodging phone calls and running to get the mail. A couple is old debt and then the little bit of new debt i applied for at Christmas he doesn't know about. I just could not come up with the money to get all these family gifts. there are so many kids and we had three sides of family to do. I really wish we would draw names since it only makes Christmas stressful and adds to the debt.
I think they had the right idea about Christmas in the past. Now it has become more of "I want" instead of "i need" or just a simple "thank you". |

I know what you mean fireyone, again it is all about getting back to the basics. I think debt works on your nerves and your confidence level too. I am really glad that it is election time because I can say it is the election campaigners calling for support again, every now and then they will leave a message and I will let him listen to it. To say see I told you.
I started shooting again today, started with the 22 and then the 357, hubby has been working alot at night and I have not shot in about 10 years, today my hands were shaking bad but after a box on each pistol I was fine, I need to shoot more often to keep my comfort zone up. I feel a lot better about it now. _________________ Goodnatured,

Tell me you are not practicing in case they debt collectors come a calling. LOL!!!! Sometimes I just feel like telling him everything up front. I get so tired of hearing him say "princess, don't worry about ikt". Especially concerning the Lowes debt. He just can't get it through his head that once we tranfer this debt to a bank It will ba a large monthly payment. He is use to seeing $50. I explain that it is low because most of the purcheases were no interest, no payment. I still getI can handle it".
If I really thought he could I would throw the checkn=book at him and say "go for it big boy". |

No, just practicing for protection.
I know what you mean with the men, they have it all figured out, so far all I have seen is they like to spend but they forget that the bill will come in the mail later. Then they spend and spend and spend. and then ask you where all the money went! (banging head against the wall!!!!!!!) _________________ Goodnatured,

| Sounds as if we have the same hubby. Just recently we were at the mall and he went to Sears to look at Hammer drills to finish putting boars around our foundation. I asked him what was wrong with the one he had of my brothers and he said it was pretty junkie. Hell who cares it wasn't costing us to use it. No not good enough...$130 later he got the drill AND finished putting up all THREE boards. I was soooooooooooooooo aggravated. |
