Hi I had filed a civil suit against a person a few years back and I do remember recieving a check in the mail a few years aga but it wasnt for all of the money that I sued them. All of a sudden I have been recieving garnishments checks from their company and the checks keep coming. Will I be held responsible for them sending me these checks that are written out to me.A family member of mine told me that Its not my fault that theyve made an error bc i have been recieving the checks biweekly for the last 3 months seem like they would have caught theri error and if its written out to me then I should cash it?????

Hi everyone,
I live on my spousal support only. I have a payment installment with the IRS to make monthly payments,(since I have to claim my spousal as an income). They are now wanting more and threating to garnish my spousal support. Can they garnish my spousal support? Thanks.!

Next month I will be going to court to settle my worker's comp case in CA. I plan on taking the full settlement amount instead of receiving bi monthly payments. Because I have been unable to work as a result of my injury I am in default of my student loans. Once I receive my worker's comp disability settlement can the government take what I owe in student loans out of my settlement money?

We live in MN and my son started to receive RSDI. Now child support is taking 65% of his check for back child support. Is this legal?

My daughter is 13 now....her dad spent most of these 13 years in jail...he has only had 2 real jobs in his life, neither one longer than 3 months. He has worked under the table jobs at night clubs off and on secretly. He has been receiving ssdi for almost 3 years, minus his little couple months here and there that he goes back to jail. He is receiving the checks because they say he has PTSD, a bummed out ankle and brain damage. PTSD...okay, yes, ill believe that, hurt ankle, okay....but the main issue of brain damage is an outright joke. When meeting with his social worker, he literally drools down his chin and slows and slurs his speech. He leaves the office bouncing and hysterically laughing about how they are so stupid enough to believe him. I have taken in videos of him to his case worker (that he has publicly posted on the web) that show him sparing with his buddies, singing dancing and partying.clearly not the helpless guy drooling in their chair... Still they cut him his checks. we have recently found out that my daughter also has 3 baby brothers....all different mothers and all born within 2 months of each other, there is 4th one on the way. He is not on my daughters birth certificate, but I have been told by my caseworker that his admittance to being her father and a photo is enough to prove paternity. I have 13 years worth of letters from ” daddy to daughter” and enough photos of the both of them including his baby/childhood photos to sink a large ship.....yet I am told there is no way he can be garnished a penny to support our daughter. I have tried to be nice for 13 years now and have told him that if he just stashes $20a month in a savings only under her name for college OR pay a monthly membership for a sport or activity of her choice, then I would never pursue him legally......she has not even seen so much as a birthday card from him. my caseworker has said that they would start the legal process....she never has. I have filled out so many packets over and over, but yet, none of them are ever looked at. I am told that they can't garnish his checks at all, then I am told that ssdi will pay my daughter. either way, I am NOT a mother of multiple children with multiple dads, squeezing the state for every penny and collecting child support payments, while sitting in a salon getting my toes painted. she is my one and only. I hold 2-3 jobs at a time, but still struggle to make ends meet. My daughter and I don't have a lavish lifestyle and there are no unnecessary shopping trips...bare essentials only....she isn't in any kind of after school sport or anything because I just can't afford to. my biggest fear is that my baby girl will never get a chance to go to college and this vicious cycle of struggling through life will carry on to her future. A bit of support would greatly help her. is there any avenue that I can take to get his checks garnished at all and put into an account for her??????? We are in oregon by the way....sorry if this is rambling and negative.....just really emotional about it.
