i have already been sued and a judgement have been rendered against me. my wages haven't been garnished yet because i think the lawyer know that i have a settlement coming soon. if i file bankruptcy will they still be able to collect from my settlement?

Not real sure, that will depend on the state you live in and what type of settlement it is. Like if it is social security benefits then they probably can not touch it.

what state do you live in? what type of settlement is it?

I was in an accident and was expecting a settlement. I had a bad debt from years ago and I was worried they would attach mine so I asked my atty. He told me of their was any type of judgment out there against me when they ran the info pior to my payment then it would have to be satisfied first. This is something they are required to do by law before releasing any funds to you. This is in PA but I can not imagine it being any different. You can check on law guru and avvo. These are sites that atty actually answer your questions. Be a little patient. Some questions get answered in a matter of a few hours and others a few days. I hope this helped you.
