Subject: Checking Account Garnishment by Default Judgement

My husband is the sole bread winner of this family and Ford motor Credit & Wachovia Bank placed a checking account garnishment without any notice now we have no income at all they did nt place it on my account why and how can I stop this in Douglas County Georgia I have no other income to feed my family HELP..The judgment was given to them but I am not working so there is only one income and we recently flooded Very Worried

Hi Jenny,

I think the only way you can stop this is by filing for bankruptcy. You can either go for chapter 7 bankruptcy or chapter 13 bankruptcy. As soon as you file a bankruptcy, the creditor must stop all efforts to collect the debt. Or you can try and open another account in someone else’s name and keep money in that. The creditor will not be able to touch that.
