Subject: Judgement Help

Posted on Thu Apr 02, 2009 9:11 am

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this...
I have a judgment placed on my credit reports by a CA (credit card debt) and I want to take steps toward paying it, while at the same time having it removed from my credit. I want to know the proper and most successful way of doing this. I don't want to pay this debt and still have it on my credit for 7 years. After reading most of the posts regarding judgments, I am aware that you lose all bargaining power after debt is paid.

Thanks in Advance
scott

You cannot get the judgment removed from your credit report even it you pay off the debt because judgment is a public record which will stay in your report for seven years and damage your credit score. However, if you do not pay off the judgment amount, the creditor can either garnish your bank account or your wage to recover the money. So I think that you should pay it off as soon as possible.

If you want to pay off the debt, you should contact your creditor or the collection agency who has brought judgment against you and pay it off through a repayment plan. Once you pay off the debt in full, it will automatically be listed as "satisfied" judgment in your credit report.

Just like scott you cannot remove a judgment from your report it stays for 7 years. But if you do not pay it they will garnish your wages to recover the money. So you need to call and set up a payment plan with them to prevent that from happening.
