I have a judgment from 2004 that I am not sure what to do with at this point. Can I contact the CA / Lawyers that are listed on Credit Report as filers of judgment and work out a settlement amount at this point? I just want it off my reports and I believe it is still within SOL.

Judgment whether paid or not will remain in your credit report for seven years from the date the judgment was passed, and will affect your credit score. However, to avoid wage garnishment or garnishment of your bank account, you can contact the Plaintiff and work out a repayment plan to pay off the judgment money.

Maxwell, Justin is correct. This judgement will stay on your report for the seven years. There is a certain length of time they have to collect and it can be more than the seven years. I would contact them and ask them if they would be willing to settle the debt. Do not jump on the first offer. Ask them to work with you on the matter. Most will do so just to get their money. Sometimes the amount will be dropped about 70% and if your lucky they may go lower just top be done with it. If you can not pay it all at once ask for a repayment plan. I would be a little hesitant to give them any checking account info because once they have those numbers they will dip into the account and Ihave read here how some collection agencies keep taking more money even after the debt was satisfied. Also get this settlement offer in writing and ask for a pay for delete letter. This will protect you from the collector and will remove their listing from your credit report.
