Subject: Judgement Discrepancy

I have a judgment on my credit report which was paid off in 2006. It was paid by the state intercepting my state tax refund. Only one of the credit bureaus is reporting this debt being satisfied; when I disputed this with Transunion, it came back that the debt is current. I tried contacting the state tax commission to see if they can help me with documents showing the debt was paid, but they aren't responding. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to get this resolved? Thanks in advance.

Send them a copy of the credit report which has listed the judgment as "satisfied" to the other two bureaus and dispute the listing. Now, even after that, they do not change the judgment to "satisfied" in your credit report, you should file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Filing a complaint with the FTC is very much effective in these cases.

I agree with Justin. If the judgment is already paid through tax refund, you must have the proof supporting your claim. You should also send that proof along with the dispute letter to the bureau and the bureau will change it to "satisfied" status. If they do not change the judgment to "satisfied", then as Justin said, you can file a complaint with FTC and the BBB.
