I'll second what goodnatured said. I hope to help people and answer questions accurately. There are alot of credit resources that can be utilized to repair credit and whatnot. Collection Agencies really are scum and will stop at nothing to collect any amount, be it $1 or $1,000,000!

For bumping up your credit score, you may try the following
1. Since any errors bring down the credit score, always check the CR whenever you receive it and dispute the errors with the CRAs.
2. Always try to keep your old credit card accounts open, since credit history plays a major role in improving your credit score. Try to use these old credit cards for paying utility bills and then repay them on time. But don't utilize more than 30% of your credit limit. The lower is the usage, the better is your credit score.
3. Stay away from opening new credit accounts. This is because, as soon as you open a new credit account, there is a hard inquiry from the part of the creditor which gets reflected in your credit report. More and more hard inquiries suggests that you are credit hungry, which gives negative impact on your credit report

Bumping up the credit score actually means how to improve your credit score. My post above tells some methods to bump up your credit score. Besides the above methods, you can also remove hard inquiries from your credit report and improve your credit score too. You can find the procedure to remove hard inquiries from the credit report in other pages of this forum.

Whenever you apply for a new line of credit, a hard inquiry is made which gets reflected in your credit report. More and more hard inquiries show that you are credit hungry and may indicate that your debt to income ratio may be higher. These types of inquiries gets automatically removed after 2 years.
Now if you are not willing to wait for two years, you can follow the steps mentioned below.
- First ask for CR from each of the CRAs and find out the inquiries that are shown to credit grantors. Now find out the addresses of the credit inquirers, and prepare letters asking them to remove the inquiry from the report. Since FCRA allows only authorized inquiries to appear on the CR, you may challenge the inquiring creditor, whether he had proper authorization to to pull up your credit report. In most cases, they simply delete the inquiry since most of them cannot verify your authorization.

Thank you scott, I have a few that I would like pulled off my report. Do you know how many points this will clear up on your report per hard inquiry that you have removed?
