Student Loan LiabilityTransfer

Submitted by casndra on Tue, 09/05/2006 - 10:21

Is it possible for a co-signer for a student loan to transfer his/her
liability to someone else while the loan is still designated as deferred?

Thanks

hi
I think ,it is not possible to transfer your liability to someone else.Better you check terms of student loan and consult with your bank.

I also think the same. You can't easily transfer that liability to somebody. You were the one who took part in the agreement, not somebody else. So, the contract involves you and the lender. Better check the terms and conditions of the contract and consult lending experts. Anyways, if you plan for additional loans in the future, research more and know everything about it particularly legal matters which we often disregard. I also suggest you consolidate you loans so that you express all your concerns to a single managing institution only. Know more about it at thestudentloanconsolodation.com. I hope I have helped you a little.

This one I am almost 100% sure on. The loan would have top be paid in full before the co-signer is released of any responsibility. the person only got that loan due to the others credit worthiness and banks are not going to risk any changes when they have a reputable co-signer already.

That is what I am thinking, there is no way to transfer a loan to someone else. especially in a co signing situation.

Tue, 08/26/2008 - 01:15 Permalink

No, that person is responsible, they co signed, so unless they come up with someone that was in much better financial shape then the borrower and the co signer. I don't think they will do it though.

I don't even think a better canidate would be considered. Why would the bank want to go through all that trouble. The best thing to do if they could would be to transfer it to a personal loan, paying it off.

As far as I know a cosigner cannot transfer his obligation to anybody else once the original borrower has received the loan. Deferred student's loan does not give a negative impression on the credit report of the co-signer, although he is liable for the debt. Deferred implies that the repayment of the loan has been postponed till the time the student completes his study of the course for which the loan has been taken.

Yes, Justin is right because once you become a cosigner, your liability to the debt ceases only when the original creditor repays the debt in full. Cosinging a loan agreement implies that you are also the debtor and so you are also liable for the debt. Now if the actual borrower does not repay the debt after the deferred time, you may be required to pay the amount.

I have seen this happen alot around this area. They take out loans and then drop out of school leaving someone else to pick up the tab for their quickie dream. I believe in student loan deferral payments but only for the serious student.

You just need to be careful who you co sign for, especially if it is something that is big, like a student loan.

Yes, especially when you consider the price for an education these days. I can't see how many young people can even afford it. Can you go bankrupt on student loans? I had this question asked to me by a frien this weekend. I was unsure. I think even the bankrupsy laws have changed.

Tue, 09/02/2008 - 01:08 Permalink

Yes they have changed greatly, I would not even attempt to answer a question on them. I would send them to the debt forum there is a lot of good discussion going on there about the subject.

I try to leave that to someone who knows the new laws.

We see people drop out where I work, we put money into their education through monies that we get through state grants, for displaced workers and low income adults, sometimes people will not feel so obligated to finish and drop out. I think they should have to pay it back if they drop out.

I think they don't realize that they are taking the money from some who would have finished, there is only so much of this money to go around.

Sat, 11/08/2008 - 14:26 Permalink

I am with you on that one. That should be a mandatory rule with a few exceptions (illness and such). Do you know how many people would love to qualify for something like this? You have people who are a few thousand over the income limits and not any better off than the the individuals who can actually qualify. Thes people would welcome such opportunities. They should have some kind of screening systams put in place on these types of things. I know my area is full of people who will start something like this. they get the clothing allowance perks and vehiclle perks and once theat money is gone so are they.

Sun, 11/09/2008 - 13:15 Permalink

If you are on unemployment your income does not matter, usually the people who are on unemployment have a work history and do finish what they start. We don't have many that do quit, but it is like you know when they start that they are not gonna follow through. You can not discriminate though. The problem is you need positive numbers to continue to get funding, if you don't you don't get the money.

Sun, 11/09/2008 - 14:45 Permalink

I was thinking of just that when I read your last post. I was thin king how these people who quit could effect the whole funding system. I have come to understand how these things work. I am glad they discluded the income for people on unemployment. they really should because these people have shown they know how to work and deserve the help with out worrying about income guidelines. your agency sounds like a really fair one.

However, there are many services that might try to take advantage of you and your financial needs by trying to steal your money or financial information not this guy. I’m GREG, I live in Tennessee. I’m very grateful to Ghost. Last year, I needed help with my credit. My current credit score was 506, I wanted a higher score and probably my old accounts deleted although most of them I had no idea why they were there, because I never opened accounts with credit card. I went on internet to search for help and I found Ghost the credit Expert and I immediately contacted him (205) 418 0498; GHOSTVIRUS7890@GMAIL.COM). We got started with the process with some few questions and a little display of competency as a proof of legitimacy. He (deleted the accounts, erased all the inquiries and eventually raised my score to 780. I guess someone out there with bad credit issue will be in need of such help. I’m very certain Ghost will help you contact them today have a wonderful Day.

I’m a disabled Vet, trying to use my VA home loan but my credit score sucks, around 545 as an average across the 3 credit bureaus with 6 negative remarks and 4 accounts in collections. I quickly contacted Hack West after I read several reviews about them on different platforms. I got a quick response and immediately decided to fix my credit with them. The good news is that my score was boosted to 800 in less than 7 days and all negative remarks removed including collections, I am now in my dream apartment. I strongly recommend HackWest@Writeme.Com.You can also text Hack West on (424) 307 2638. They are fast and reliable.

Sometimes, you can read something online that will help improve your life; I missed paying back my loans, my cards were maxed out and I was late on the rent, all these did serious harm to my credit profile, my FICO dropped to as low as 426. I was at an all-time low as I needed to secure a loan in order to offset my wife’s medical bills. Until, last month when I came across a review on Trulia about XAP CREDIT SOLUTION a credit reform company. I decided to give them a try. 2 weeks after we reached an agreement and I met the requirements which obviously wasn’t much, my profile was repaired totally. Now my score is at 780. All thanks to XAP. Reach them via XAPCREDITSOLUTION@GMAIL.COM or text (972) 597 9704. I kid you not. You’ll be glad you did.

I’m a single mom. My credit has been horrible for so long. I didnt think anyting would help it... and I was very skeptical when I heard of Hack West Credit Repair. I thought it was a scam and didn't believe they were who they said they were. But I took a chance and trusted them and am so glad I did.. West has been so easy to talk to, I call, he answers... I have a question, he explains. Something new is happening then he calls me. There’s always communication. Of course a little ways and I realized it wasn't a scam. I'm very pleased with my results and very soon I will be very excited to take my children and my family into our new home... I can honestly say it wouldn't have happened without Hack West!! I'm very happy I answered the phone call that day.... thank you for raising my score to 769 in less than 9 days. (HACKWEST@WRITEME.COM/ (424) 307 2638)

Hello, I want to tell you about a credit company that helped redeem me, I had a major setback because my score was miserably low, things became worse because of the evictions, IRS and liens in my profile, until my cousin introduced me to SKY CREDIT SOLUTION , they made it better, they literally gave me my life back, my score is 760, my profile is alright. For various forms of credit upgrade, no matter how low the score is, the one and only answer I know is SKY, they are 100% legit. Everything is looking up for me now, hit them up via SKYCREDITSOLUTION247@GMAIL.COM / (620) 399 6316. You should contact them now…
