Recently some Collection agencies have obtained my Credit report.
How can stop their inquiries? (I have some debt on my credit cards and this is why they are sending their inquiries to to my credit report). Is it ok if i freez my credit report? is it possible? if yes, is there any negative issue for such freezing? Please kindly note that I am living in California. How can I stop such unauthrized enter to my privacy?
Thanks,

Hi Sha

According to the Fair Debt Collection Practices in the United States of America, you can very well stop a collector from calling you. You can do this by writing them a letter asking them to stop calling you. Send a certified mail and look for a return receipt fr documentation. You will, henceforth not receive any calls from them except for maybe one that will only tell you that you will not be contacted further.

However, you must remember that this does not mean that they have erased the debt from your records. The debt still remains unless you pay it off. If you don't pay off your debt, you may still be sued by the original creditor for non-payment.

Hi Carol,

Thank you for your reply. I have send them twice (once per month)
Validation letter but they did not answer me. Now, How can I stop
their inquiries in my credit report? I mean I do not want to let them whenever they want to pull out my information from my credit report. How can I freeze the inquiries in my credit report? Is it possible? If yes, how?
