Subject: Is this adequate verification?

I asked for verification for a $400 collection from NCO for Progressice auto insurance. What they sent me was a copy of the original policy (nothing signed) and a couple of statements from rejected automatic withdraws that happened after I had cancelled my insurance and closed the checking account that they were debiting. Is this verification.

To me its not because I canceled the insurance, I don't have any proof that I did because it was done over the phone, so what do I do now?

What happened to the car? Did you get other insurance or turn in the plate?

one of These two things will probably be required. It is illegal in most states the stop auto insurance on a car that is still registered.

Hi paj,

Debt verification and debt validation are 2 different things. In debt verification the collection agency is required to say that you owe them the debt. While in validation, they are required to provide you with the legal proof that they really has the authority to collect the debt.

I think the cancellation of car insurance policy depends on the state and the insurance laws. So, you can check the laws of your state. Did you go for another insurance? If so, do you have the copy for the new insurance?

We switched car insurances to another company.

We are in indiana. I asked for Validation of the account. So should I ask for more proof? Or should I suck it up and go for a pay for delete?

Write a dispute letter to NCO stating that you canceled your insurance and send them records of the new policy as proof. Send by CMRRR. When the receipt arrives report them to the AG
