Starting a new business

Submitted by goodnatured on Sat, 02/02/2013 - 02:42

Beides paying off the house we have finally got brave enough to open a small business, we opened it in August. It is a seasonal hunting shop. We did really well and expect things to be even better next season.
Wow the paperwork, tax time, new bank account for it, etc. Inventory, I have been contemplating investing in one of the scanners to get rid of the paperwork, especially for inventory. If anyone knows of a good one that don't cost an arm and a leg I would appreciate it. Needs to be easy to use also.

Hi.
My question is the following: I am the "privary buyer' on a car loan and my exboyfriend the cosigner. When I left he was signed me a paper in which he agree to make all payments on the car and he kep it. The car has now being repossed and the agency sent it to collection agency. Can I take my ex boyfriend to court and make him fully responsible and remove my name from the loan?

Cash for collateral!!!?

Again, sorry for all the threads, I just found this forum and I have many questions.

Can a person borrow money from a bank using money for collateral?

For example, use 25k as collateral for a loan for that amount or lesser.

If so, can that person use some or all of the money put up to secure the loan?

Debt Consultation Costs & Benefits

Submitted by jimelton23 on Fri, 06/25/2010 - 14:30

Like a home equity loan, with which there are closing costs associated, some debt solutions or debt consolidation plans come with fees. Now, if you are paying 1% and you are saving 10% the savings are a no brainer - but don't be lazy! Calculate the costs and really figure out what you are putting out vs. what you are getting back. Generally, individual debt consultation is not fee based and will be free of charge as they create a debt solution for you. Business debt consultation, because it's more complicated, often does have a fee structure or some outlaying of money.

Credit Card Debt

Do you have a considerable amount of credit card debt? Many times people are unaware that you can lower your credit card interest rates simply by calling and asking your credit card company. If you tend to carry a high balance each month it can really save you money lowering your rate. Even if your rate is only lowered a few percentage points I highly recommend making the call.

I see too many people these days with huge interest rates of 18% plus and it is sad they don't realize that they are probably capable of receiving much lower rates.

Personal Injury Claim Proceeds

I live in NYS and am a co-plaintiff on a personal injury settlement dating back to 2005. Part of the divorce agreement gave my ex $3,000 when the personal injury case was SETTLED. The company we were seeking settlement upon has filed Chapter 11 twice and my ex is demanding his $3,000 NOW even though he is named as a plaintiff in the case. I have no idea if I will even be receiving a settlement now that the company is bankrupt so cannot just come up with the $3,000. What is there to do?
