I look at all the responses and just tend to think this is all a fraud. Any posts that say Cody has helped them are either made by a guest and not a forum member or someone who just became a member. I can look at the amount of credit points under there forum name and see they got on long enough to lasso up some free advedrtising for Cody.

I can say this much... In defending those of us IN the credit repair biz that are legitimate, paying for the service isn't necessarily a bad idea.

Please know that I'm being careful not to step on any toes here, but I can tell you that the content and quality of the letters that my company uses (and there are HUNDREDS, NOT just a handful...) are faaaaaaaaar superior to many of those I have seen on this and other forums like it.

Again-- Please understand that I do not intend to disparage any of the contributions or efforts of the contributors of this site... Any effort is (generally) better than none, and is to be applauded. That said though, there is a difference... Once again, I offer the examples page of my website as proof....

It's the old, "you COULD represent yourself in a murder trial" theory... Would you, though? Or would you hire an expert (lawyer) to do it..?

Or how about mowing one's own yard..? Sure I COULD do that, but it would take me the better part of my Saturday, and I'd be to exhausted to do anything else for the rest of it... ~Makes more sense for me to pay someone who does it for a living, who has proven techniques, and the necessary experience and tools to do it effectively...

I think at some point people get really tired of forking out money DOC. I know in my experience I have dealt with some pretty ruthless collectors who were just out right jerks, needless to say it put a really bad taste in my mouth. I guess I see your point, let the experts do it, if you can afford to do it. I know at one point I could not afford to pay much of anything and then I had these bill collectors on my butt on top of it all, way tooooo stressful.

I think it is a matter of trust also, some people have been burned so they don't have alot of trust in these companies.

I think you hit on the heart of the situation here Good Natured. Usually when a person has debt collectors calling them it is because the have hit hard finacial times. Most simly can not pay the extra fees to these types of places because they do not have it to pay. At least they try this self help method which is better than doing nothing ans Doc said.
I had an ex- family member who went through a debt consolidation company and they added so many fees on that they were lucky to ever get the situation straightened out..they have been paying stilol for years. I know this is maybe different than debt repair. I think I would give it my best shot and then if it proved to be getting me no where then I would seek other options.

What you save in intrest, its not worth the time waisted, time cost so much money, and it is the one thing you never get enough of. I tell you signing up to get my credit fixed was well worth it!

Cody I wanted to ask you a question, why does a dispute with a creditor take so long to get resolved, and most of the time there is no change in my score or any negative items removed.

CODY: I'm NOT saying it's NOT a good company. I jusy haven't 'looked into' it yet. However.......I've read BOTH positive and negative things, on this forum, about the website. Mostly positive..however. I DID fill out the form 'on-line' and the company DID call me back. I jusy haven't had a cjance to return their call.

I still stand by the thought to give repairing your credit by yourself a shot first. If it doesn't work out you will always have the other option. From reading things on here it doesn't seem that hard to get your own credit reports back on a good track. Have you tried doing anything yourself yet SD?

I don't know, cody is looking like a legitimate product, at least according to doc, I have always wondered what it would cost someone to clean up their report. No one ever gives that type of information. I know each case is different, but a range would work for me. If I knew for sure that I could get my score raised and have some negatives taken off sooner, I may be open to paying for it. Thing is no one ever puts a price range out there for this type of service.

Well, FIREYONE, I've looked into my CR (again). There are a few debts that will 'fall-off' soon. Also.......a few debts that the SOL has expired, but, the debts still remain. Can you tell me, FIREYONE, is it better to do the 'dispute' over the web or should I just send a 'dispute' letter to them via mail? Which is more effective? To tell you the truth, I'm just not sure where to 'start' on all of this. Sometime agao, there was a debt, on my CR that the 'fall-off' had past. I 'disputed' this, over the net, with the CB. It was taken off. However.......what about the debts STILL on my CR? Sol expired, but, still on there? Would it be as 'easy' to remove them?

Even if your SOL is expired that debt will still remain on there up until 7 years has passed since the last reported activity on an account. The best way for me to explain this to you is to give you an example:
PA Statute of Limitations is 4 years. So you have a credit card and quit making payments in January of 2000. That debt will not fall off until January of 2007. The debt collector though can not sue you and win after the SOL. So in January 2004 a collector can not sue you for that debt.
You are confusing the "fall off" date and the SOL date.
