I just don't like it all, you can't get the smell off your hands for along time after using it either. I do my jerky without it. _________________ Goodnatured,

Seems like alot of things are like that Laura, if you notice, you can cook something exactly the same way as someone else and get a completely different taste. I am with you on the smell, can't stand it. _________________ Goodnatured,

First and foremost...i hate venison..deer meat...whatever you call it. That is because of the beautiful creature that is killed. I cant tolerate that. So vinaigrette wont help in any case. I have heard it tastes good after fully cooked but i never wanted to try. Sorry for that. I wont be able to contribute in this. but will sure follow whatever you people advise. _________________ Regards,

It is indeed a beautiful creature and I know where you are coming from, if they were not hunted though many of them would be hit on the road, some are hit around here because we have so many and they don't die for a long time after wards, My husband has stopped and put some down just so they don't suffer, I think I would rather see them taken in season then hit and have a broken back and left to suffer a long painful death.
I see you point Laura, but I think my chickens are wonderful creatures too and cows and lambs and my list goes on and on. |

I know what you mean crackerjack, I hate to see an animal wounded along the road and the deer are big so alot of times when they collide with a smaller vehicle it does not kill them, but wounds them severly and they wonder off some where and suffer for a long time. I hate to see a wounded animal along the road. _________________ Goodnatured,

I am not very fond of meat. Any kind of, be it chicken, lamb etc etc. I do consume them but not at random. May be at a party or two.
I cant tolerate broken backbone deer along the highways at all. I have no issues if you guys love to celebrate with meat. I am just being honest regarding my disposition towards animal killing. That is what I cant digest. _________________ Regards,

Laura, that is okay, I have similar issues with farm animals, we raised pigs this year, and I could not see them or I would not be able to eat the meat. I do eat meat but there are alot of things around the butchering that I don't like to get involved with.
I can't even think about doing a turkey or other bird, the mental picture would not leave my head so I have to buy those items if I want them in a grocery store.
Deer I don't have any issues with, I guess I was raised that way, hate to see any animal wounded that is for sure, but I think that is just human nature, not to want to see anything in pain un necessarily. _________________ Goodnatured,

heres a good recipe for the ribs off a deer most people throw them away.
first you have to boil them for about 1hour, and drain to get the tallow off then add water salt pepper andseasoning. boil for another hour and drain again this gets rid of fat and tallow which is what makes them taste bad in the first place.
ok now your ready to make some good eating lay the ribs in a single row in a shallow pan . mix 1 can of tomato soup about 3 tablespoons of hot sause and half a cup of catsup stir together well and spread over ribs add a little water in bottom of pan, not much. cook another hour or until desired consistancy, and enjoy they are really good. i ve made them and people didnt know they were deer ribs. |

| Cut the backstraps of the deer up into ka-bobs and maranate it for a day in italian dressing with onions and bellpeppers.. Put them on the grill for 15 minutes and enjoy |
