I'm new to this menu and I'm interested in matters that will help my four kids get out of their individual credit problems. I screwed up my credit in the early 70's when a gas company send me a card with $5 credit for using it. They may have believed that a senior in college with a card to get beer and snacks at the gas station was a good bet. They lost.

Hello, I am new to the forum, I have been on various message boards for more then 8 years, prior to that I worked for a credit bureau.

I like to teach consumers about credit reporting issues such as:

Ordering Credit Reports
Disputing with the Credit Reporting Agencies
Understanding Reporting Periods
Understanding Statute of Limitations
Understanding Credit Scoring
How to fix Mixed / Split Credit Files
Dealing with ID Theft
Settling debt and improving credit rating at the same time
Credit concerns regarding Bankruptcy

That is just a few,

Thanks, and look forward to contributing on the board.

I am here because my credit score is 509 and I need it to be 650. If I have a false judgement taken off, how much will my score go up? and if I make all my credit cards current, how much will that help?

Hi Kathleen,

There cannot be any specific increase in your credit score for the removal of the judgment. For more details on increase in credit score after judgment, you can refer http://www.creditmagic.org/judgment/paidoff-increasescore.html .

Making on time payments helps increase your credit score the most. Payment history accounts for 30-35% of your credit score. So, becoming current will help.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron

Subject: insanely informative site

Just wanted to thank all the contributors to this forum and site. Been browsing it for a couple days now and feel relieved and empowered that there are so many people that are willing to share the wealth of information they have to help others with their credit issues.
My husband was ready to pay a credit repair company a fairly large sum to supposedly clear his report, but since I've shown him all the resources on this site we feel confident in our ability to take care of it ourselves.
Thanks again for all you do,
Jennifer
