That is a good idea to have all your online earnings go to a separate account, I do that also, I split it between mine and my daughters savings account. It does not look like much but it really adds up over time. On the one survey site, I can make $60 a month easy and split that up between us, that is like $720 a year divided by two, $310 a year for each account, not bad.

I have so much money go FROM my checking account TO my savings account, every payday. Some goes into my son's account, some into mine. Sometimes it's difficult to keep money in MY savings account, if something comes up, that I have to cover.

Hi Neeraj
Try to negotiate with the creditor only if the creditor has validated the debt else not. If you find the name of the collection agency listed in your credit report, then go for debt validation, else there is no need for asking for debt validation. However, after calling you up if the creditor sends you debt validation notice, you can definitely go for debt validation. However, you should always send DV letter by certified mail.

I received a call from an #800 numbers, that have recordings like " this is a urgent buiness matter..". I returned the call. They stated they were calling from a CA and needed to "validate" some of my information on a debt. I asked several times who they were....they din't even tell me THAT much. How do these so-called CA's get phone numbers? I mean, if they were REALLY collecting for some OC, I would think they would, AT LEAST tell me who they were.

You should not disclose any personal information like your social security number or the credit card number to anybody over phone. A collection agency never validates debt over phone. If a CA calls you to recover a debt, they need to either list the debt in your credit report or send a debt validation notice within 5 days from the date of initial correspondence. The collection agencies normally get the phone numbers from the original creditors from whom they purchase the debt.

Yes that is where they get there numbers but when a person defaults on a debt and changes there number it really causes another person a lot of grief. With moer and more people doing this I hear alot of these complaints. As for validating a debt by phone I do not think they can even legally do that because they have to have a copy of the original signed contract. Anything less than that is not debt validation.

True.....you can REALLY 'Validate' anything, by phone. Sometimes CA's will ask you to FAX then paperwork. I don't like doing that, either.

Hi Chargers
You can ask for debt validation over phone but there will be no proof that you have asked for validation if the creditor or the collection agency do not validate the debt. You will have the proof that you have asked for validation only if you send the DV letter by certified mail with return receipt. Moreover, the creditor cannot validate the debt over phone as proper debt validation requires the creditor to provide you with a copy of the original signed contract between you and the original creditor.

Sorry, JUSTIN for taking a while to 'get back to you'. I see what you're saying...if you don't have it on paper, it's like it never happened.
