My wages have just been garnished

I have just been given a notice that Discovery Card has attached a garnishment to my paycheck. This is the first time I have had one. I only make $270.00 a week on a part time job about 1100 a month.

How much are they going to take out?

Is there anyway to have them take out less because I am barely making it on what I make all ready.

Should I take all of my money out of my bank account to avoid them taking it??

Any advice would be welcome.

Thank you.

A garnishment comes from a judgment against you in a local state court. Have you seen this judgment? I would go to the court and read the file (if you haven't already)

do you have all your credit reports?
what state are you in?
what is the original creditor (discover) and the name of the CA?who sued you?
what is the date of first delinquency? 30 days after last payment

this information will help me make suggestions specific to your case. The state will determine the statue of limitations for this debt. knowing the name of the OC original creditor, will help show if there is a specific govt regulating agency that can help so rt out the truth. Knowing the exact dates is very important too.
