Do I request a settlement or let it go to collections?

I have 2 credit cards with Wells Fargo. I have religiously paid on them two times a month, more then the minimum payment, to try to compensate for the interest charge and the outstanding balance. Ex: pmt $60 - I pay $200 every other wk, when I get paid. It doesn't seem to help, the balance never changes. When I call Wells Fargo they say they can't do anything, my family has outstanding credit cards with them and havent paid, and they of course get the calls and collection and some of places then offer to settle and work with you.
I actually care about my credit and want to pay for what I've accrued in debt. When I was without insurance I had to pay cash and check for bills, and used my credit cards to survive. I've asked Wells Fargo to stop the interest so I can pay it off by April, and have offered to still do the $200 every other week, so I'm giving them $800 a month and they still wont do it.
Should I just let it go to collections so I can get help. My only alternate option, because I'm struggling to make the $800 plus other bills, is to file bankruptcy. I'm 23yrs old and don't want to, but if push comes to shove I will.
I work Collections for GM so I can understand hardships and the different views of the customer and the business. But I truly am at a stalemate, and rather then screw myself out of a future, because I am getting married in April and having a family, I am trying to secure my future and get out of debt.
