Is it worth disputing online? I am pretty computer savvy and disputing online is a good option for me.

Thanks

Hi CreditQuest,

Disputing online is an option to resolve your dispute. The web addresses for disputing online are:

Experian: http://www.experian.com/disputes/index.html
Equifax: https://www.econsumer.equifax.com/consumer/sitepage.ehtml?forward=onli ne_dispute
Transunion: http://www.transunion.com/content/page.jsp?id=/personalsolutions/gener al/data/SelectAppropriateOnlineDisputeMethod.xml

Try filling the fields marked asterik (*) only. The point is to give only the info that are 'required'. Try not to admit to anything or send something that may help tie up the debt to you. Once done it gets on file forever!

Apart from disputing online you may ofcourse call them or mail them (CMRRR). I generally call them up and ask them to remove any erroneous info and it works great.

Hi CreditQuest,

Welcome to the forum.

While you fill up the required information which includes your SSN, date of
birth, addresses, employment details, etc. make sure to check that the url starts with https instead of http. This is a secured way of transmitting data.

I think its not good to communicate with the credit bureaus on phone for long. You must not mention anything like "its mine" sort of things as they keep notes with them. I would suggest you to communicate via mail. Send a CMRRR (Certified Mail Return Receipt Request) via the United States Post Office Mail (costs around $4.64). According to me its the best option to dispute with the credit bureaus.

Thanks

You give away CRITICAL rights when you dispute online...! NEVER do it! Trust me!

For example, did you know that when something is deleted via an online dispute, it can be re-inserted without the advance, written notice that is normally required...?
