I recently discovered after looking at my credit report that my parents have taken out MULTIPLE student loans and credit cards in my name, all of which have defaulted now. Everything together equals over $100,000. (4 different student loans ranging from $5,000-$30,000 and 5 different credit cards ranging from $300-$6,0000). NONE of the money went to me. I have called my University and none of the student loan money even went toward tuition. While I was in school I was a straight A student and recieved different scholarships and grants to pay for my tuition. My parents also opened a bank account in my name to funnel the money through so most of the places I call do not believe me. They refuse to provide any sort of validaton on anything until I file a police report and sue my parents. Am I an awful child for doing this? I dont know what to do or how to make it all better. When I confronted my parents they said that they did it help me but yet I have gotten no money and now am left with this huge debt. Both of their buisnesses closed during the recession and thier house was foreclosed on so I think that the money went to try to keep all of that afloat and to pay for their personal needs. I feel like an awful child for turning my parents in but I really dont know what else to do!???

WOW!! Ok..take a deep breath, NICOLE. First of all: if the Student Loans were on YOUR CR, how do you know that it was your parents that took out the loans? Same with the CC's. I know with Student Loans (I deal with them myself..) they are difficult to get out of 'default'. I don't think, at all, that you are a horrible child for wanting to press some kind of charges aqainst them!! It sounds like they stole your identity..and that is aqainst the law. Can you talk to the Student Loan lenders and the CC lenders and ask them when the loans/CC's were given out? I would file a report with your local police department. If you have your CR, it should say when the 'credit' was given. I'm sure, however,..that an expert, on this Forum give you some good advice and will give you more 'direction'.......just hang in there!! I wanted to answer your post because I wanted to let you know your post isn't going unnoticed.

Well for instance one of the credit cards, the last item purchased was a plane ticket in my mothers name so that is what tipped me off that it was them.
