Ok over the last nine years I have had a lot of medical bills add up. Recently I contacted the hospital financial services and applied for financial assistance, I got approved and the entire balance was paid. I want to know if the collection agency that has been reporting it on my credit will change it to paid.

Negative items will remain on your credit report at least for 7-10 years. I guess, after 7 years it will automatically be removed from your credit report. If it is still showing on your credit report, then you can contact with the hospital financial services and make a written request to them to remove the negative items from your credit report and update your account status as “Paid-in-full”.
