Summons for outstanding debt

Hi
this is my first time online requesting assistance, not sure how this works.. hee hee

I received a summons for an outstanding debt. It says I have 30 days to respond. Who do I respond to? The lawyer who drafter the summons? The original debt collector? Or the original debtor?

I told the collection agency what I was willing to pay and he very rudely told me that was unacceptable and not to worry he knows where I work and he is coming after me.

Surely if I'm willing to pay no matter how small an amount that says something? Now my bill has more than doubled. Crazy they can add 100% fees??

Any advise anyone? Don't want to go to court and waste a day (unpaid). Just want to pay it off at the pace I can.

Thanks so much!

Welcome to the forums!!!
You haven’t mentioned what kind of debt you have. At first you should give a reply to the court summons. You will have to give reply to the court. You should present on the court hearing date. Otherwise, the collection agency will win the case. You can inform to the court that you have tried to negotiate with the collection agency. After that just wait and see what is happening.

Best of luck!!
