i have a question regarding two charge offs. they were about four years ago when i was in college. one for $35, and one for $300. at the time, when the collection agency was calling constantly i decided to simply pay and stop the calls and did not know a pay for delete was an option. so now what shows up on my credit report is a closed account, but still shows a charge off. is there a way to speak with the collection agency that was handling the account at the time and have it removed from my credit report even after the debt has been settled?

Yep…you can contact with the collection agency and request them to remove this item from your credit report. But it depends on their discretion whether or not they will accept your request. You can also request them to update your account status as “Paid-as-settledâ€.
