The process server called and said he would be at my house in 30 minutes. I asked what it was about and he gave me a number of a collection agency. I called right away and was talked into making a payment, (on an cc debt from way back) so the server would be called off. I made the payment with a credit card then got to thinking about what a fool I was not to get some documentation, about that time I got a letter via email saying I paid. The whole document was sketchy at best and looked very non professional. I called my credit card company right away and told them I believed it was fraud. Called the process server, no longer a working number, called Merchant Services who was to collect the money and it was not a working number. So the payment is pending and will be disputed. Now the collection agency is sending an Affidavit of Indebtness, I am relatively sure the statute of limitations applies, but have I restarted the collection process
