Does anyone have dealings with GE Money Bank about Gateway computer accounts? I bougth mine under a promotion offered by Gateway, paid it off and am now being harassed for payments I do not owe. This has been going on since September 2005. What can I do to stop this? I mailed them a letter and they mailed me information on three different accounts that weren't even mine! Thank you

You need to write a debt verification letter and place a dispute with the company. They need to conduct investigation on your dispute and provide accurate info. When you paid off the account to Gateway, did you get anything in writing from the company showing it as "Paid"? If you haven't received the letter, call the company and ask for the letter. You must have this document to show that the account is already paid off and you owe nothing to this collection agency calling you.
Mention in the dispute letter to cease and desist all communication until the info is specified in details. Don't forget to send the letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. This will ensure proof of your actions in case the matter reaches the court. You need to have your defense prepared with proof.
