I am in the same boat, they just took $90 out of my account. I did just get a email from them, stating that they will keep taking $90 in renewal fees plus another 50 to pay down the loan. I only borrowed $300 from them and now I have paid $270 in fees and I still owe $390 from the orginial loan.

Anyway. the email states that if you send them a fax 3 days before your next payment, then they will take the full amount of your loan, and you would be paid in full. The fax number is 1-800-803-8794.

I hope this helps

Fri, 01/09/2009 - 18:39 Permalink

Julie this is harassment and you can report this person to your atty generals office and to the FTC. I know someone who did this over the type of threatening phone call like you recieved and she got an apology and the debt relieved by the company. You should start with the atty, general first because usually they are the quickest to react. You DO NOT have to take this harassment but it will continue unless you show then that you know you have rights.

Does anyone know the company that Lisa Johnson works for

Thu, 02/12/2009 - 19:21 Permalink

They cannot take you to the court until they have proper proof that you owe them money. You can first pull out your credit report to find out whether they have their names listed there. If you find them listed in your report send them a DV Letter. If they cannot validate the debt, file a complaint against them with the FTC. I think that by doing this, you can stop them from harassing you.

i just got my credit report and have a charge of $480 on it from Crown lending. they stop taking my payments after I faxed in for them to take the enire payment of $390.they never took the payment. now they want me to pay up

Thu, 03/05/2009 - 14:05 Permalink

Since the debt is still with the original creditor, you can always negotiate with them for pay for deletion agreement to remove the charge off listing from your credit report. However, this must be done before you make any payment towards the debt and you should get the agreement in writing. This is because "charge off" may reduce your credit score by about 100 points and will stay there in your report for seven years and six months.

I believe you are seeking information about a company called Crown Lending. First let me ask you if you received a threatening telephone call from a suppose to be law firm where the all the people you talk to are from India. If you did then they are claiming to represent a company called Crown Lending. I do not know if it is the Payday Loan company or the mortgage company. I am trying to find out myself just which one they are suppose to be representing. I will try to let all know as soon as I find out any thing.
The Number for Crown Payday loans is 504-367-3367
The number for the Suppose law firm that is suppose to be representing them is 646-918-5119
The number for Crown Lending is 866-556-9434

I too have received a threatening phone from a suppose to be law firm claiming they represent a company called crown lending and their phone number is 646-918-5119. I think all of us who have been harassed by this company should join together and file a counter suite against them. If we join together in a law suite a good attorney will be able to find out all the information about the company.
If this company is in India contacting your Atty General will do no good and if it a rip off company then they will only stop when they are facing a law suite or other legal action.

I recieved a phone call leaving me a message from a "legal" department stating I had committed fraud by taking out a loan and not repaying it. I was told I would be served either that day or the next morning. When I tried to return the call, the message box was full. This morning I reached this company, the person was Indian and spoke poor English as did the man who had previously called me. She informed me that I had taken out a payday loan for $300 and that amount had been deposited to my checking account. She had my bank routing and account #, my ss number and my old address and employment phone #. She told me that I could pay the $300 then or I would be going to court. I told her I would consult an attorney and call my bank and would call her back. When I called my bank, I found out that there was no $300 deposit during the 3 month period that I had supposidly had made this loan. Has anyone else had this happen? What do I do?

Mon, 03/09/2009 - 14:01 Permalink

If you have not taken any payday loan, you need not worry and let them sue you to the court. If you get a summon from the court regarding the debt, file a response to the summon first and then send a debt validation letter to the creditor who has sued you. Keep the bank statement for the three months proving that $300 was not credited to your account. If the creditor fail to validate the debt within 30 days from the date of receipt of the debt validation letter, the judgment will go in your favor.

I received a phone call from this company too stating that I had a payday loan from December 2007 for $350 that was never paid back. I went to the bank and there was NO such deposit made to my account in December 2007. This is a scam! I closed my account and opened a new one otherwise they could have taken money out of my account. Don't pay them!

I asked them to provide me proof that we took a loan, and they stated that in the agrrement there was nothing in writing for proof..scary though, they had her soc, our old bank info and her old employer. I told him I was gona sue him and he got very agressive with me...I am filling a complaint with my states attourney, the NY stats attourney and the FTC...our bank records show no loan...

They started harassing me a couple of weeks ago; both on my regular phone and at work. They are not calling from within the US and it's funny how they can speak understandable English when they want to but most of their verbage is unintelligible. They have my SS#, bank account, email, etc.
They say I owe them for an unpaid payday loan from Crown Lending of $300 from December 2007. I checked my bank statements from August 2007 through May 2008 and there is nothing to match what they say. I also emailed Crown Lending and asked if I might owe them money from an old loan; they replied the next business day that I did not. These collectors also called someone I listed as a reference for something years ago and bothered her for several days.
I'm certain they get money from some people because they have so much confidential information it makes then sound legitimate.
Prior to today's calls no matter who called me; the last name was Johnson, Kevin or Eric. Today David Cooper called me and left a voicemail message on my work phone screaming that he was going to "ruin my life".
I contacted Consumer Protection in my state and filed a complaint in writing with the Federal Trade Commission.
I have read a lot of info in these past days about what I should ask for as far as proof and what they can and can't do. The problem is; much of what WE should do to get them to go away once and for all has to be done in writing. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been unable to get any info from these people except a US phone number in New York(646-918-5119) or a Canada number (851-322-8600).
I asked them to send me the documentation of the loan they referred to and one of the Johnsons said he would send it and the other Johnson said I would get it when I paid them.
I was told if I want to pay and then "look into the issue" the $300 loan would now be $795 but if I wait for them to take legal action it would be; according to Johnson $3,000 or; according to Cooper $10,000.

I would encourage anyone who is targeted by these people to file complaints with anyone they can think of. I have saved every voicemail they have left me but now have deactivated my mailbox because I'm tired of retrieving messages from them

SO far...so good, havent recieved another call from them. I called them Saturday afternoon and got a voicemail and stated that if they call on Monady, they better be prepared to give me an address and supervisor info to send a debt validation. I also quoted the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act section 87 and 808 that THEY need to send in writing, a debt confirmation letter no more than 5 days after initial contact, and if they did not have tghat, dont ever bother calling back. I also told them that I have started filing papers with FTC, Ill Attorney General, ICCC etc. I also asked if they were registered with the Better Business Bureau. Even if they stopped calling me, I want them to go down for all they are stealing from everyone else!!!How do we get the word out to others about this scam.

Wed, 03/25/2009 - 03:46 Permalink

A creditor or a collection agency can do nothing to ruin your life only for a debt you owe them. All that they can do is to bring judgment against you and garnish your bank account or your wage to recover the debt. Now, even for bringing judgment, they need to prove that they own your debt by validating it. Since you have already filed a complaint against them to the Federal Trade Commission, I think that they will no more disturb you with the debt.

Since defaulting on your payments is not a criminal offense, the creditor can never send you to jail for the debt. If they harass you over phone, then just file a complaint against them with the FTC and I'm sure, that they will stop calling you.

I too received a phone call from some indian guy posing to be in the "law investigation department" and said that Crown Lending had a lawsuit against me saying that i owed them money on a loan that i took out from them. Ok, for one, this definitely sent me a red flag because i never took a loan out from any loan company, for two, i would receive a subpoena in the mail, and this goes for all the rest of you who have been harrassed by them, you too would have received a subpoena from the court if you had a real case against you and not a phone call. I blocked the number they were calling me from so that they could not call me again to get any of my information so that they could drain me of my money. So block whatever number they are using to call you on, that way they can not bother you again!

I have had the same calls... First they called for my Wife and left a number for her, here's the crazy thing... She's a 911 dispatcher and this guy identified himself as Officer Dale Johnson. So, the next day I called back and finally got to talk to this "Officer" who wasn't an Officer at all of any sort... I let him know real quick that I had a law degree and was a Sworn Deputy Sheriff, needless to say they quit calling for her. Today however, they called for me at my home and I happened to answer the phone and informed them of the same information and they hung up on me... then I got a call from the Sheriff's Secretary at my Department saying that that guy was so pissed off that they called and told her that I WAS A FRAUD... really??? Who do these people think they are? I believe we are going to open an investigation...

I too have been receiving calls from a David Cooper, I will not stop harrassing him back, I quoted him the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and he said that those laws don't apply to him. He has hung up on me numerous times, he told me he is a paralegal for Russell Miller, when I asked to speak to Russell Miller, he told me that Russell does what he tells him. Also, he told me that he was from South Africa and that he was in the States just doing some business. His number is a California number, but we all know that is probably just using a track phone that can be used anywhere. The last phone call they had someone in the background whispering "Osama Bin Laden, ha ha ha", over and over. There is a Russell Miller attorney in California, just called there and left a message as well to let him know what is going on with his name. They told my husband it was a payday loan and that EZ Cash deposited $200 into my account, when he asked him for EZ Cashes phone number and account number, all he would supply him with was our bank account number, nothing else. He knows where I work, my bank account number, and social security number. When I called he told me to call my place of work, because I supposedly took out the loan with them, Ha, I work for a school district, they don't give out loans. He told me today that there will be no more phone calls, we will see.
