I had never been contacted by the attorney general office,
but what did they say? Do they want information regarding
the outstanding payday loan or information concerning the
payday loan company?

Best thing I do, is use the caller ID Service, see where its coming from, if it doesnt state a specific location, check the number at whitepages.com to see what the number is coming from. If this is unknown caller, i dont even bother answering the phone, one thing you have to watch these days is scams being done through the phone, more often then none if the Caller ID doesnt state specifically who it is or its someone I dont know, I dont bother with answering it. I have seen some crap come through the phones registering as pay phones and even as cell phones.

PDL's are not legal. was the AG calling about paying the debt? As wwepatriot says, if the number comes up on a Caller ID, check the number out. If it's a 'private' or 'blocked' number, and you DO answer the phone, ask the person's name, etc.
