I am in debt, approximately 12,000 in debt and 38 creditors. i am in Chexsystems, Teletrack, you name it. Its so bad that i cnnot even get a payday loan, LOL thats how bad it is. I am interested in cleaning up my credit in preparation of home ownership. I dont have any clue on which way to go. Some of my debt is 6-7 years old. My credit score is 551 as we speak, can anyone advise on what to do.

Negative entries on your credit report should drop off seven years after date of last payment or date of charge off, whichever is more recent.

Go through your report with a fine tooth comb. If there are any errors, be sure to dispute them with the credit reporting agencies.

When are you thinking of buying a house?

Before you buy a home, you must make sure you have at least 8 months mortgage payments saved on top of the money you put down on the home. If you don't, you are not ready and need to relax and take your time!

Even though you are an innocent victim, you have been blacklisted. If don't make an attempt to resolve this, you will be banned (Minimum 5 years) from having a bank account. Feel free to visit our site for more information on ChexSystems and how to order your free consumer report.

Ms Smith, you can get a free copy of your chexsystems report. I wrote an article on this for Ehow. You can dispute items on your report as well. If you filed a police report then we should be able to clean up your chexsystems report
